How much of a crime is changing the cover image for a series? · 2:55am Nov 26th, 2015
Cause while the pic I posted for 'Friendship is Scaleless' did originally provide the inspiration, I've come across this which is...well...considerably more epic:
Twilight Sparkle and SEATH THE SCALELESS!!!
Seriously whoever drew that, please know that I have money and will happily part with it for some similar commission works! Heck I'll settle for permission to just use it as the new cover art if that's not going to confuse too many folk.
I don't think it's generally a crime at all. Worst case, much of the flame over changing it can be mitigated by providing the source to the original art in your description. That way, it's never quite lost/forgotten.
3568941 ya that's sounds about right and judging that pic I cant blame him for wanting somthing like that for his cover art.
I say go for it, it is much better than what you currently have. Or, alternately, you could get a good artist to make you a custom artwork.

3569231 Love to know what good artists there are. Asked about it before in a blog but got no response.
3569271 My buddy Midnight Sonare is pretty good, but he hasn't been very active lately...

I feel as though it doesn't fit the first arc of the story, it definitely fits the current one!
3570470 Which brings up a separate issue of should I have started a new series for this new arc rather than keep going. Didn't occur to me initially but the further I get stuck in the more I see the change of tone.
Ah well...
