    Continuing updates

    Sorry it has been so long. Recovering and such, no brain mets but no answers. Some psych issues and cancer REALLY messes with you. As such trying to do a story about cancer to work through it was probably not that bright.

    Week off

    I tried but there will be no updates this week. Between computer and internet issues, dr appt and trip to LA that took three full days, visiting family in hospital, side effect last week where i could not use my left hand. It has been fun. Barely made it back home with that fire in LA on the route i needed. And got another tube removed after 15 months.

The local pony club I attend started a pathfinder game with ponies. This is a small segment the DM sent around as a reminder to people what happened and is a "prologue" to the main game. So I don't have a character yet, but in this one every character was ran by two people working in union. Was thinking of playing a lawful good changeling paladin that worships Celestia. Just want to pick something interesting.

History:

Takes place long after Celestia and Luna's joint rule of Equestria. The elements of harmony and their deeds have long since been forgotten, their existence now merely legend, and in some places, a religion. The existence of the Celestial Sisters is well known, but more information about them are only known among historians.

Equestrian society still exists, but is no longer the peaceful empire it was under the diarchy. Small villages and towns are scattered across the land, along with some slightly bigger towns. There are a few castles in some cities, with small militias and occasional conflicts between towns.

===========================================
Character backgrounds

Stardust is a young prodigy. She is a unicorn still searching for her cutie mark, and determined to find it in a book. She is born to a high-standing, wealthy family. She has turned her attention to studying the various religions, histories, and especially magic. She is exceptional at magic, knowing complex combat spells usually only known by advanced scholars. She wishes to expand her knowledge further. She studies mostly on her own from books from her family's library and other libraries that she visits.

Her parents are quite busy with traveling, and have thus hired a guard to keep their child out of trouble. Earthshaker is the terrifying bodyguard of Stardust. With a cutie mark of a shattered planet, he can make the ground quake with his war hammer. He is known for his strength and his ability to intimidate those he meets, but he also has a reasonable intellect that he tries to keep hidden. He is well paid for his work.

Yet another character in this tale, Squidbait was raised in a far away sea-side town, born to parents with a sense of humor. He has since ventured far away to try to distance himself from his parents and their simple life. He strives for the power to make decisions, possibly behind a public figure, serving as a puppet master behind the thrown. As such, he has dedicated himself to learning secrets, knowing how to read people, and knowing how to make people do the things he wants. His cutie mark, a crown resting upon a royal red cushion, represents his ability to make anyone feel like royalty through his poetic speech. He can also manipulate the world around him with the music of his fiddle.

Squidbait had ventured to the town where Stardust was staying and learned about the power of her family. He decided it would be greatly in his interest to befriend such a powerful figure in society, and may even have found a true friend in the process. He tags along with Stardust in many of her adventures, though he often disappears to work on his own without warning.

===============================
Session:

Stardust was reading yet another book imported into town when she discovered an old tale about an amulet of great power. Called the Lunar Amulet, this artifact seemed to be the cause of the terrible reign of Eclipse. Although little is known about her reign, all agree it was short and bloody.

However, this story about this corrupted ruler had an additional fact - a hint that the artifact had survived the destruction of Eclipse, and remained in the town she ruled - the very town Stardust called home.

And thus came the idea to Stardust to try to track down this amulet and study it. Surely something of such great power could unlock countless new realms of study, unlocking even more power for her to use!

She convinces her guard and her friend to go to town for a bite to eat. Along the way, they stop at a magical shop, where she asks the store owner about the Lunar Amulet. Although initially condescending to the little filly, Earthshaker's hammer convinces her to tell her that she had best ask one of the castle guards about the Lunar Amulet.

After traveling to the castle, Squidbait's silver tongue convinces the guards to let them into the castle library, where they decide to ask the librarian about the amulet. She tells them a harrowing tale about a leader of their town who was horribly corrupted into a monster by the amulet, gaining terrible power, but being unable to control it. She sent out armies against neighboring allies, leveling towns and destroying all. In the end, the power of the amulet proved to be more than the unicorn could bear, and it utterly destroyed Eclipse.

The librarian proceeded to direct the group to the location of a book about Eclipse for more information. However, Stardust suspected that the librarian knew more than she had let on, and managed to convincer her (with some help from Mr. Scary Face) to spill the beans. She revealed that the amulet was not destroyed when Eclipse was killed, and was stored in this very castle for safe keeping. She fled to alert the guards that people were asking about the amulet. During her absence, Stardust and Earthshaker "borrowed" the volume they were directed to.

The trio returned to Stardust's estate, where they read the text. The text did not offer any new information, except that the armies Eclipse raised were far, far larger than the number of ponies that had ever lived in this small town. Squidbait left to scout the graveyard, and did a very thorough search, but was unable to find any trace of a tomb of Eclipse. As he left, he remembered something he had heard about the royalty being buried beneath the castle, a possible place to continue the search.

On the next day, the ponies went to the castle. New guards were stationed outside, but they were easily convinced that Stardust wanted to investigate her heritage by looking through the catacombs below the castle. The guards had been warned about a terrifying pony asking about the Lunar Amulet, but were more than happy to let this friendly pony and his guests down into the depths of the keep for some genealogy research. Although initially standing guard outside, the bard convinced them that they could return to their post, that they would be fine.

With the realization that Eclipse had been known by a different name before her transformation, Princess Moonstone, and the help of a detect magic spell, Stardust found the magical tomb of the pony that had become the monster. The three ponies were able to move the heavy stone door aside. Stardust quickly rushed down, followed by the others.

Upon entering the crypt, lit by the glowing black gem in a pedestal next to a coffin, Stardust felt an odd compulsion. Without meaning to, she was suddenly rushing towards the amulet, magic lighting to lift it from its pedestal and seize its power. Her two friends rushed to stop her, and their shouts were able to make her come to her senses. A hurried discussion decided that Earthshaker, who had not been affected by the amulet, should be the one to examine it, to lift it from its pedestal.

Nothing happened until he touched the amulet - but then, a shadow leapt from the artifact and entered the barbarian. Laughter falling from his lips, he took his fearsome war hammer from its sheath, and brandished it at the two ponies by the door.

What happens next, though.... that will be determined next time!
