What If He Wasn’t a Cliche?

Recently I've been thinking about how history's most infamous "waifu thief" Flash Sentry more likeable in the eyes of the fandom. I sincerely doubt that anything could have made them welcome the guy who stole their perfect purple pony princess from Her Royal Majesty Sunbutt with open arms and a twenty-one gun salute that wasn't aimed at his head, but there must have been some way to curb the

    The Owl House Finale

Just finished watching the final episode of The Owl House. There was so much good stuff here, far more than I am able to talk about right now. So instead, I will reveal the one thing that was a disappointment for me:

A Christmas Story: Love it or hate it?

With the most wonderful time of the year just around the corner (or already here if you work in retail), I find my wondering what everyone thinks about Bob Clark's classic movie A Christmas Story. My sister loves it so much that she and her first husband would play it on television all day long on Christmas day and probably other days before that. Our mother dislikes it for, among other

Equestria Girls #4-will Flash finally play a role? · 1:42am Nov 6th, 2015

It is no secret that I fully support Flash Sentry and the subsequent FlashLight shipping. When others complained about Twilight Sparkle having a love interest "forced" on her, I thought the few scenes they had together were really cute. When I learned that part of the problem everyone had with him was a complete lack of character development, my inner Barney Stinson proclaimed "challenge accepted!" and created a character profile for him that I must say I’m very proud of. And when news of the third Equestria Girls movie came out, I crossed my fingers in hopes that he would finally play a larger role in the plot that would develop his character and get more people to like him. Although I didn't shed any tears when that didn't happen, I'm really hoping that the next movie will come through for me. While it is more likely that it will feature either Sunset Shimmer finally become an official alicorn and princess, or SciTwi coming out of her shell and stepping up (I kind of hope it isn't the latter, because that would be too formulaic and repetitive), if Hasbro does come through, I have some ideas of for what I want to see:

At the beginning of the movie, Flash Sentry is feeling down. When Sunset Shimmer asks him what's wrong, he admits that he's feeling frustrated over his inability to form a relationship with Twilight, and is beginning to wonder if he really has a place in her life. Naturally, another magical crisis courtesy of Equestria pops up later, and the gang summons Twilight to help out. On a flash of inspiration, Sunset encourages Twilight to use this opportunity to spend some time with Flash, assuring her that the rest of them can handle the bulk of the workload. Unfortunately, Twilight's neurotic need to know exactly what's going on causes her to constantly stand him up, and he starts to get really annoyed. Eventually, Twilight appeases him by making a promise (a Pinkie Promise no less) to go on a date with him, but then what seems like a major breakthrough occurs and Twilight, desperate to see it for herself, enlists SciTwi to stand in for her. Unfortunately, he soon sees through the ruse and tracks Princess Twilight & company down. In doing so, he seemingly costs them a major lead (which later turns out to be false), adding to Twilight's frustration and anxiety as the following scene unfolds:

Flash: So now you don't even have enough respect for me to tell me you don't want to be around me to my face? Instead you have to lie to me and saddle me up with some doppleganger?!

Twilight: Flash, I'm sorry, but this is important! What was I supposed to do?!

Flash: Gee, I don't know, maybe tell me what's going on so I at least know why you keep running away from me? Maybe at least let me into the loop so I don't feel like the world's biggest idiot? Or hey, maybe I could help you guys, offer a different perspective or something!

Twilight: (loses her temper) What could you possibly do to help us?! You're just an ordinary human! You have no magic!

(Flash reels back as if he'd been slapped while the girls all gasp in shock at Twilight's cruel words. After a moment, Twilight realizes what she has just said and begins to panic.)

Twilight: Oh no, Flash, I'm sorry, I didn't mean...

Flash: (having had enough) No, no, I get it, you're right, I'm just a plain, ordinary, worthless guy without any magical powers whatsoever. Never mind that I just want to help protect my school and everyone in it, or that I'd do anything for you; what does it matter? Magic is the only thing that matters to you. But don't worry, I won't try and keep you from spending time with your oh-so-special magical friends anymore. I'm leaving.

(Flash begins to walk away, but Twilight, frantic, races after him and grabs his shoulder)

Twilight: Flash, wait...

Flash: (rounds on Twilight, slapping her hand away and looking more furious than he ever has before) I've been waiting for you! From the start! But not anymore! I'm done Twilight...I'm done with you.

(Flash stomps away, leaving behind a devestated and heartbroken Twilight who then falls to her knees and cries uncontrollably even as all her friends try to comfort her.)

The irony is that Flash knows more about what's going on than even he realizes. At the climax, the girls realize that everything they thought was the truth was wrong, and just when it seems like the real villian has won, it's Flash who steps up and somehow uses the Magic of Harmony (or something similar) to save the day. When it's all over, Flash and Twilight reconcile and finally kiss, and the two worlds are brought that much closer together.

I've probably ticked off a whole lot of Flash haters with this, but I do not care. This is what I want to see, and I know Hasbro can make it cool. So lets all join hands and pray for the future, everyone.

I think that sounds like an interesting idea. You planning to do a fanfic of it yourself. I'd read it.

3555922 Not really; this was just an idea I had, and I've got a lot of other stuff to work on. Any work I do on the story will purely be for my own amusement unless I change my mind in the future. That said, one thing my vision for the fourth film absolutely needs is a school event appropriate to the plot. The first film had the Fall Formal, "Rainbow Rocks" had the Musical Showcase/Battle of the Bands, and "Friendship Games" had the, well, Friendship Games. Any ideas for what would work for my idea?

3555922 In case you havn't figured it out already, I've changed my mind and will be writing this fic.

3759898 In that case I cannot wait to see it. Good luck.
