Kestrel's Trying to Draw Now? This Ought to be Good! · 12:20am Nov 6th, 2015
Hey everyone! So like the title suggests, I've been learning how to draw now. So far, I'm liking what I'm doing even though it's rough and I don't have all the tools for it.
I've been on an Undertale kick recently and I decided to draw characters from the game since they're relatively easy to do. So here's a few pictures of my early works. I'm not sure how all you digital artists do what you do yet and it'll take me quite a while to get there, and I'm not sure if I have the money to do it or whatever, but this is where I'm starting!
With graphite. (Sorry for the bad quality upload pics, I took these with my phone.)
The Delta Rune from Undertale
Everyone's favorite TV host: Mettaton
One of two skeleton brothers: Sans
Finally, Undyne and Monster Kid (drawing hands is hard, and I see why you all hate it so much now XD )
So while they're not great, I think they're pretty good for having just started. Maybe I'll even start learning how to draw ponies soon
Go ahead and share your thoughts with me I'd love to hear feedback.
As an artist myself, I'd say you're off to a good start. You just need to add more detail and shading, but that can come later. Trust me, I was worse when I started drawing.
And yeah, you should try drawing ponies soon. It's good practice.
Much better than anything I could ever do. I have no artistic ability, even my matchstick men are failures.

All I've got is just a small set of 4 drawing pencils. I don't have a blending stump or even color, so this is what I have to work with. XD
3523473
That's how I was right before I started trying to draw again here. I dunno, I just kinda picked it up somewhere. Maybe I learned from just seeing good art?
3523483
Always possible.
3523474
You don't need good materials to be a great artist. It's possible to make a masterpiece artwork from four pencils.
They look good!
Awesome to see you spreading your wings (So to speak ;3) and attempting something new!
As the artist Foxenawolf (Who calm commissions all the time) always tells people, practice will go a long way! I hope you keep up the drawing and someday we'll see a lot more cool stuff out of you!
3523525
I suppose that's true, but with the grain of the paper and erased lines still being there in impression, it's hard to shade quite as well without a blending stump.

3523563
Thanks for the support, you guys! It's a lot of fun so far, even though I kind of wanted to pull my hair out drawing that hand on Undyne.
3523569
Hey, you just gotta practice. I'm sure you'll be a great artist soon.
You aren't doing half bad! Now to see you do a pony. LOL
3523593
Yup, will probably do that soon. Then maybe I'll start uploading to deviantart.
Amazing! Better than anything I could ever do. Keep it up!
3523596
Thanks for the support
3523602 no problem.
3523572
It's more recognizable than anything I can do
3523594 I can't wait. Then maybe you can turn Calm into a Turkey with us for Thanksgiving.
3523616
A turkey? XD Maybe so. I guess I could try to be a full fledged member of TFAB rather than just an honorary.
3523623 Had to come up with something it'll be fully announced this weekend sometime.
I kinda hope you do.
LEMME TEACH U!
Ayyyy you finally joined the artists club!
3523814
Heh, I'd be honored, master
3523819
I hope there's room for one more! I'll have to see about digital drawing though and how expensive it is to get started with that.
3523834
i'll make a layout for the MLP basics
3523843
Well, if you don't mind.
3523847
workin on it. take time when drawing. took me ten years to get where i am.
Still better than any of my art...

they look great bro! Drawing is just a skill you have to practice at. Using just a pencil is a good start, to get a feel for it and it will develope from there. Just focus on getting comfortable. But I am on the same boat as you right now. I am just staring to get into digital art and so far it's really forgein to me because of all the tools, layers, and options to choose from. I would definitely want to see some pony drawing when you draw them.
3524007
Yessir! :P
3523991
Thanks
3524013
Wewcome.
Dang, those look awesome for a first try! I can't wait to see what more you come up with as time goes on, and how your art style evolves as you hone your skills. Great job!
3524039
Thanks! And you should play Undertale if you haven't
3524043
It's on my wishlist!!!
3523838 For me it was around 150 dollars, 75 for manga studio and 75 for my tablet. However to be honest I think it's better to get used to drawing first and then buy your digital devices. Also did you try to email me? I got an email I have no idea who it is
3524087
Ehh, no. I don't think I have your email.
I already have a tablet, and I'm just looking, not jumping on and buying quite yet.
3524091 Well, I have no idea who that is then...
If you need any advice though, feel free to ask.

I meant the one not grabbing the spear. Her right hand looks bad.
