    MLP: TNG

I'm a month late to this, but here's my take on MLP: TNG (or whatever we're calling it). I was underwhelmed the first time I watched it, but I gave it a second chance, and it started to grow on me. I think my mistake was watching Raya and the Last Dragon just a few days before the G5 movie. Both movies have similar themes and plots, but they handle them differently. More on that later.

    Revisiting the Final Season

A few months ago, I rewatched Season 9, and I liked it even better than the first time I saw it. There were still two episodes that I didn't care for: “3, 2, 1, Greaaat” and “Trivial Pursuit.” With both of those episodes, I went into them with the mindset that I would skip to the next episode when they started to annoy me. I only made it a few minutes into each episode.

    Bereavement

It's been awhile since I've posted any updates. Things happened one after another to make me lose interest in multicolored ponies. First the show ended, and then real world problems started happening. Then came the worst case scenario – I lost my father in February of this year.

    Random update

I haven't been on this site as much as I use to because of real life distractions. Not all of the distractions have been good, but the good ones are truly amazing.

Pony Life is a regression to Season One

Maybe it's just because the MLP stop-motion shorts lowered my expectations, but so far I think Pony Life is okay. I wouldn't call it good, but at least it doesn't directly insult older fans the way Thundercats Roar does (or so I've heard). I enjoy Pony Life's animation style enough to recommend watching five minutes of it. Plus, there is actual dialog spoken by the same VA's from FiM, and they

Retconning? · 4:41am Oct 25th, 2015

First off, this journal contains spoilers for “Hearthbreakers,” so if you haven't watched it, what are you waiting for? Christmas? Go watch it now!

To those who have seen the episode, what do you think about Pinkie and Marble being twins (or possibly triplets with Limestone)? If they are twins, why doesn't Marble go to school with Pinkie in the EG movies? Maybe she's one of those characters whose age is different from her Equestrian counterpart (like the CMC, Spike, and of course Celestia and Luna). But that would be especially weird to make twins be not twins in the alternate universe. Assuming the human versions are twins, what happened to Marble? It doesn't make sense for twins to go to different schools. Did some tragedy befall Marble?

These questions dovetail into the something I've been pondering: Do I retcon “Once Upon a Nightmare” to fit both today's episode and the new EG movie? If so, how much should I retcon? I don't want to force it to fit the “Friendship Games” exactly, since I already had a plot outlined and I would have to completely revamp it. I don't think I could do that and successfully finish the fanfic. However, I was thinking about changing some of the character details; namely, Cadance working at the rival school instead of going to college. Changing Cadance's vocation would probably suit my story better, although I would make Luna resentful instead of easygoing like she is in the movie. Again, at this point it's all about serving my story instead of forcing it to fit a canon that I didn't know about when I started writing and planning.

Also, in my fanfic, Marble and Limestone were briefly mentioned to be Pinkie's older twin sisters who were away at college. This one I'm more hesitant to change because if they are Pinkie's age, I can't fathom where they could be other than a hospital or cemetery.

No matter what I decide, I'm going to have to add an AU tag to OUAN.

What are your thoughts? How much would you retcon?

Well I haven't read your story yet but here are some simple solutions for this.

___1
You could just say that Marble and Limestone are home-schooled. Reasoning that their shy and assertive behavior was cause for their parents to not let them attend school.

___2
Since Pinkie moved away from her family to live in Ponyville in the show you could say that Pinkie moved to the city to live with Maud and attend school, while her other sisters still live with their parents outside of the school's district. (This is also supported by Rainbow Rocks, when we see Maud at where Pinkie claims is her home.)
