I sometimes wonder if the Cutie Mark Crusaders will remain blank flanks for the remainder of the series. It's like, at least a year and a half has passed in-universe by now, and still they're blank flanks. Changing that would probably change the status quo too much, and we can't have that now, can we? 
In other news I still haven't caught up with the newest episodes, not completely. While I take no issue with Big Mac in drag, I know there's going to be a lot of cringe 'comedy' so I'm having trouble keeping motivated to finish this episode.
Okay, fate is just plain f(yay)ing with me now. I just finished watcing Crusaders Of The Lost Mark, and... What?

Okay, let's see.
-A consistently and intentionally one-note tertiary character gets development and a change in role
-A long-running subplot since the days of season 1 (which I seriously expected to never be resolved) is finally brought to a close
-And it's done so in a way that completely violates the piles of unsubtle foreshadowing we got when this sub-plot was introduced, yet somehow feels satisfying enough that I don't really care
It ain't Amending Fences, but holy crap was that a good episode.

I've seen it proposed that the talents foreshadowed in "The Show Stoppers" were what the Crusaders would have gotten had the Crusade never happened. Their quest may have managed to rewrite their destinies. Alternately, those could've just been secondary talents unworthy of butt tattoos, like Twilight's organizational abilities or Fluttershy's sewing skills. That would explain why Scootaloo didn't get a mark after scooting halfway across the country in "Flight to the Finish."
