A thestral, a siren, a zebra, a dragon, a changeling, a kirin, three unicorns, three pegasi, three earth ponies, and three alicorns all walk into a bar.
They then get kicked out because that's way too many characters with "primary/secondary protagonist" billing for one story.
But despite admitting she could stand to thin the numbers just a little, the author is also incredibly stubborn and sentimental and isn't inclined to let go of most of this cast.
This could be a problem.
Intriguing. Looking forward to seeing how you handle this.
On the other hand, there's no rule saying there needs to be a perfectly even number of each pony type present here, and letting go of such arbitrary restrictions might make the character-culling go a bit easier.

As am I, admittedly... While this technically isn't a new concept, (in fact is one I've talked about before,) returning after so much time away has given me both the great benefit of being able to see the direction I had in mind for it wasn't a good one*, and the task of trying to figure out what I actually want to do with it. While the broad strokes of an idea at least are definitely there, It's the sort of thing that I still need to hash out yet; a story of this type can't subsist off Vibes alone.** But at the very least the basic setup is still unchanged, and I feel like writing out the introductions and whatnot could help me fine-tune and better zero in on the currently more nebulous aspects of the concept.
* (or at least, wasn't one that actually appealed to my personal tastes, so much as what I thought I was obliged to write based on the setup at the time and what I felt like a "good story" was supposed to be.)
**(Actually, maybe it could. That sort of reductionist thinking is part of what led to the original plan, after all, so...)

(Albeit if the vibe in question is mystery, I should at least have an answer in mind.)
