That moment when... · 12:01am Oct 20th, 2015

You realize exactly how out of shape you are.

Started my new construction job last week (10-13-15). And let me tell you, it is absolutely exhausting. That first couple days I was moving burlap sheets onto new concrete and soaking them to keep the concrete cool and prevent cracking. That was very, very tiring. And wet. Those sheets weighed over 100lbs when wet. Friday, I got to experience the pouring and setting new concrete. And it completely kicked my ass. My arms and ankles were killing me all weekend. Today, I got to help build a cinder block wall, and got a serious workout. Throwing around hundreds of cinder blocks arount ain't no joke.

I also realized how amazing it feels to drag your butt in and take off your boots at the end of the day. Now, I've been used to being on my feet for upwards of 12 hrs a day, but this has just been kicking my ass.

When it's all said and done, it will be worth it. I started at $14/hr and will quickly grow from there. I made more in a short week than when I was making weekly at my old job. Amazing.

I fully intend to get a computer and internet before the new year, and continue writing. But first, I need to invest in a good pair of boots so my feet won't hurt so bad at the end of the day. I have never been so tired and sore at the end of the day in my life.

Hey at least you are working out while working, i have a desk job and people keep naggin me to hit the gym.

trust me you are killing two birds with one cinderblock.......

even for me that joke was lame.

hey now y know how I feel :twilightsheepish:
Also might I suggest Rocky Bearclaws for new boots. They are expensive but will last years and feel great.

I'll be getting some Red Wings boots. My dad had a pair and they lasted him 3 1/2 years. Before that, he was going through shoes/boots every 3-5 months. I currently have a pair of Caterpillar boots that lasted a yr and a half. They were comfy, but they've been falling apart for a few months. I'd rather spend a few hundred on boots that are comfy, supportive, and last than to keep buying cheap boots every couple months...

In all seriousness, yes, it serves both purposes.
