Lore pt 3. The Pineapple Island, and the Trade Union. · 11:02pm Oct 14th, 2015

Hello to you all again, next up is the Pineapple Island, of which is the next stop of our hero. This is where the story takes a drastic change in how it should feel, though I don't know how well I'll translate this, I do hope you enjoy. Chapter 9 should be out soon, so hold onto your bits like a griffin with... well like a griffin.

As far as the rest of Equestrai knows, Ironshod Firearms died at the end of the war, but in the marewaii islands metro, the company lived on, still run by the apple family. Though for the longest time they simply remade, and maintained the weapons they made during the war, as civilization reamered and stablized, Ironshod began makng new wepons to match the need of the new civilization. Air guns were the name of the game, but always with out of the box thinking, Ironshod always whent above and beyond what others were willing to do.

The If-152 'Fire Bug' is a controversial weapon, being a compact flamethrower, wit the same power as its older and larger counterparts. Though many protest to the weapons construction abound, many ponies who travel untainted parts of the metro found the little flame thrower to be a life savor. The best pinch weapon to use on twittermights, or to driving away a paradise dragon, it is one of the more prized weapons in Charon's Stop, and commonly seen among bandits.

- Pineapple Island, and the Trade Union.

From its name sake, it’s easy to tell what the island was known for. Home to the Marewaii Islands largest pineapple plantation, it was also the sources of most of the pineapples to the rest of Eqestria. A largely earthpony community, based around farming, the Island saw little industry even during the war.

As the war went on, the demand for food increased, pushing the ponies of the island to further increase their production. This also drew other earth ponies family’s to them, both for work, and some out of a sense of kinship. The island also became home to Zebra POW’s early in the war, simply being civilians with no place to go, the island took them in, needing the extra hooves.

At the tail end of the war, Stable-Tec moved in, adding a metro system under the island. Though they were expanding tunnels for all the islands, the ponies of Pineapple Island paid Stable-Tec to give their island some extra care. Not only installing a few extra stations than the island needed, Stable-Tec also built underground gardens for the plantations. Much like the stable apple orchards, the plantation owners were able to produce a stable amount of pineapples underground.

The close ties to Stable-Tec soon proved to be a lifesaving decision. When the war came to its end, the pineapple islands were the first place the R&D stable reach out to, and helped reestablished order. Not that the Pineapple Island needed help with establishing order, with nearly every pony being farm ponies, and quite friendly with each other, the biggest problem was keeping ponies from going to the surface to look for their lost kin. Working together with Stable-Tec, Pineapple Island reemerged as the islands main food producer once more.

As the new age went on, the Island found itself a target of envy and greed, and found itself with war on its doorstep time and time again. Orthrus, formally Sable-Tec, became the islands biggest Ally, trading food for protection. All would be conquerors found themselves having to butt heads with Orthrus before even toying with the Pineapple Island, and later driven away.

Pineapple Island eventually did fall, not through violence, but through politics. The budding Triade Union set its sights on the Island, seeking to make it part of the Republic. Overwhelmed with the idea of a one government Marewaii, and the end to war in their home, many of the ponies of the Pineapple Islands pushed to join the republic. For a time, a new peace was found, with Orthrus reaming neutral, but withdrawing their troops from the republics new territory.

The dream of a home that knows no war later came crashing down, as the Republic was ripped in half with internal strife. The formation of a new party, the Social Collective, fanned the flames of revolution, aiming their spears at the industry heads of the Trade Union. The ponies who once brought Pineapple Island into the republic, now found themselves separating it out of a sense of survival.

Keeping the violence from spreading, Orthrus moved in, and quarantined the Valley Island until the fires died down. Cut off from their home, the Trade Union rebuilt itself on the Pineapple Island, and establishing an alliance with Orthrus, whom now had taken control of the Island so to prevent any violence from cropping up.

The Ideology of the Trade Union moved from a collectivist mindset, to seeing themselves as many individuals working for the same goal. With this new mindset, the Trade Union reemerged as central power who seeks to maintain peace, cosign up close with Orthrus, and eventually returning to the valley island, but keeping the Pineapple Island as their home.

The Island saw itself change from the simple food producer of the metro, into business powerhouse, home to business of the old world, and of their new world. Many ponies of the island believe that with enough hard work, and some smarts, any ponies can make something of themselves. Because of this, the ponies of the Pineapple Islands are seen as the hardest working ponies in the metro.

The political structure of the Pineapple Island is complicated to say the least. Though officially it is still under the control of Orthrus, they for the most part just maintain the tunnels, and leave the Island alone. The Triade Union itself has broken up into individual parties, all with their own way of doing business, but overall the same goal. The Merchant Guild is spread throughout the metro, and though rumors tying them to the syndicate abound, they are the most trusted when it comes to the buying and selling of goods. The Labor Union represents the working class ponies, fighting for fair wages, and better safety, they have little power outside the Island, and are known to get easily radicalized. The Pineapple pact is the political leg of the Metros plantations, though with a lot of influence in the metro itself, they have little political power outside the buying and selling of food. Last but not least is the Capital Group, otherwise known as the rich ponies club, though the smallest of the political parties, their influence far outweighs their size. Though not officially part of the Trade Union, Orthrus and the republic have representatives in the Trade Unions senate.

A busy place, the Pineapple Island has no room for ponies who don’t work, and by law, a pony without a job cannot live on the island. It’s not uncommon to find ponies in Charon’s Stop fighting in worker lines, as even the most basic job on Pineapple Island grantees a far better life than that of the slums of Charon’s Stop.
