Truthfully I've been wanting to do a full original idea for a while now, but I want to see Desperados through. Though some of the issues I've had has been the scope, and overall setting, as some just don't quite fit together. Along with how to tell the story itself. Writing Fallout Equestria has given me the confidence needed to just do it, not talk about what kind of story I would do. Something I see a lot of people fall into the trap of, getting stuck in the idea phase, and never making it into something. Another thing I learned was reducing the events to what a single character experiences, and letting things be left unsaid. You know as much as the main character and that makes it more fun. So the idea of my own story has gone from the end of time and space, on a ringworld (This is where Azure originally came from) to just space itself, and a vast mystery that none can live long enough to see all of it (Where I'm taking Azure) Though I plan to use Azure more as a way to set up the world, and then, if I do other stories with other characters, use him as a helpful veteran. So ya, once I'm done with Pecans story, might go forth with this, and keep a lot of things as a "WTF, that's strange" kind of deal.
Sadly, there won't be ponies for it. XP
That all said, I hope you keep reading Desperados, and if you do start the new IP idea, I hope you read and enjoy that too.
You know I really like what he's going also Azure seems like a d&d character who the DM put in place so that the new players/characters can get to know the game better.

ya, I tend to think in game logic, and how I imagine it is that he talks you through the first area, and for the last fight to safety, he throws you the super-shorty. and from there on he's in and out of the story, but you find messages left on walls such as "Danger, stay out of the light" or "Don't move when you hear clicking"
But ya, I'll likely use him to get a feel for the settings.
