For what's coming down the pipe. This may be the stupidest thing I've ever written—as such, it's only right that it be shared with all of you.
Friendship Games was pretty cool, yeah? I didn't watch any of the previews, trailers, or commercials, so most everything was a complete surprise to me. Especially that climax—anime as all hell.
As my good friend (and wonderful person) Frogmyre pointed out, the Equestria Girls trilogy is an almost-perfect example of how to do a character arc. Sunset started out as a villain who had lost her way, and couldn't possibly imagine ever finding redemption.
Once she made some friends, she started down the path to emulating Twilight, the hero who had saved her. It was on this path that she learned the hard truth that being good isn't easy—honestly, being good and resisting the temptations to do evil is one of the most difficult things in existence (this is all too true in life as well as fiction).
And now, in the final movie, we see Sunset finally reaching the goals she set for herself when she met Twilight. Midnight Sparkle's purification wonderfully echoes Sunset's own cleansing, and serves as an awesome bookend for the series. Obviously, Sunset still isn't perfect—the scene this new fic is based on, for example—but really, who is? The important thing is that Sunset is striving with all of her heart to be the paragon of friendship she knows she can be, and she knows the world needs. That's cool stuff, man.
Maybe I'm just a sucker for redemption stories. Who knows?

And no, this isn't the dark comedy I requested prereaders for. That's still being looked over and edited; expect it relatively soon.

I suppose you might be right in that I'm being a bit too hasty in declaring this the end.
This trilogy, as I stated, just served so well as a character arc for Sunset. And now that that character arc is finished, I figured that was the end of the series. There are rumors, apparently, that we might be getting an EqG series--which I would much prefer to another series.
