When Trixie and the Magic Hands got almost as many downvotes as upvotes, I wasn't too bothered. It's dubcon, it was written before I knew what "dubcon" meant, so my description was a mess of trying to describe not-exactly-rape. It's anthro. It was posted when I still only had one chapter, in which nothing much of interest happens because I was trying to set the scene. I told myself up/down votes didn't really mean much for a story like that.
Now with Mac & Cheese, I have to ask:
Is my writing really that bad? Is there some obvious, glaring mistake I'm making? Or do people just mass-downvote M/M?
At the time of writing this, it's 6/18 - three times as many downvotes as upvotes. I've not received any negative comments or messages, I don't have a clue what's going on.
I understand my writing isn't the best ever, but it seems like either I'm doing something really badly wrong without realising it, or the up/down vote system on this site is being completely broken/abused. I'd kinda like to know which it is (because I'm insecure and new to all this).
After giving it a read and a few other things, and I have a few things to tell you.
1: No, you writing is not that bad. In fact, I think that you will be a very good author if you keep writing. (I am an author myself, so I know talent when I see it) I'd say, right about now, you are at a solid 7/10 skill level in writing, a great place for an author with only two stories.
2: I think I found your problem. FIM-Fiction has groups dedicated to specific things, like M/M. You story was not in those groups files, so the only ones seeing it, most likely were not fond of this type of Clopfic.
Rest assured, I have placed your story into the archives of two large groups dedicated to these kinds of stories. People that enjoy reading M/M will be seeing your story in their alert box now. However, I'd still go out looking for groups that you could place your story into legally. Don't go adding stories about... let's say, Rainbow Dash into a group that is made for Rarity stories.
Well, that's all I have to say. Keep writing the way you do and you'll be great in no time.

One last point. I know it's very late for this, but it really should be said:
Yes, guy on guy action is categorically downvoted by a lrge number of users on this site regardless of quality. AppleDash and Spike Anthro Harem fics will get you featured, Fall of Equestria will lead to about the same number of downvotes to upvotes (both probably reaching over a hundred when it's writing as good as yours), and M/M will rarely rise above sixty upvotes.
