LEMEGETON II · 5:27pm Aug 30th, 2015

Okay, I lied, I have another image.

Ultra sperat victoriam.
De loco et tempore, nihil scit quid futurum sit.

Makes me think of the magic circles from Magical Lyrical Girl Nanoha. Is Sunset going to be that kind of Mahou Shojo?:pinkiecrazy:

Looks really cool.

One question, though: what's "Legemeton" mean? I think that it's might be Latin, and I'm absolutely hopeless when it comes to writing or reading that.

No, this is probably closer to Madoka Magica in terms of magical girls, murder and mayhem.

3357872 I meant the Nanoha fandom joke about her combat style; it's more accurate if you translate Mahou Shojo as 'Demon Cannon Girl' rather than 'Magical Girl'...:derpyderp1:

Have to admit Madoka is another great anime. There's nothing wrong with a world where the undead little girls are the victims, right?

Lemegeton was originally pseudo-Latin (technically just really badly translated Latin from Hebrew) for The Lesser Key of Solomon, a grimoire supposedly written by King Solomon. The book is also known as the Clavis Solomonis or the Clavicula Solomonis Regis. The Esoteric Archives describes it best:

The name Lemegeton is probably naively invented because of the compiler's ignorance of Latin. He or she was no doubt familiar with the Clavicula Salomonis (Key of Solomon) [a different book by the same name- ed.] and wanted to title this work the "Little Key of Solomon;" this became "Lemegeton Clavicula Salomonis."

Nowadays, "Lemegeton" is the catchall term for magical/alchemical circles, as well as an alternate name for the Lesser Key of Solomon.

That help?

Oh, and in case anyone cares, we're currently at a body count of four and rising, not counting what went on in Book III.

3357906 Yeah, I care.

And that ... does not sound good. Not at all.:twilightoops:

And you haven't even started uploading the chapters yet! (That's in 3 days form now!) I shudder think what will happen when the Grand Finale actually starts for real!:twilightoops:

3357962
Heh, the current scene I'm writing right now? heh, heh, heh.

3358022 Oh, that sounds pretty ominous.:twilightoops:

Well, as I told 3357893 , I've blown about $1000 on the art (I've probably made a fortune for DAZ, Renderosity, Runtime DNA, MyFonts, and Adobe), so I'm really hoping you all liked it.

3358661 Well, In can't speak for StrangeReasoning, but I certainly do.

I just wish that I was as good at this type of lovely art as the ones that made it.

And yes, Shin, that includes you.:raritywink:

I'm starting to dread the beginning of Book IV.

3358694
Wait until Tuesday. :trollestia:

Renders are expensive, believe me, but I wanted a realistic look for the girls so you know that reality (well, storywise) is happening to them. Realistic pain, realistic sorrow.
Realistic death.

3358707
Yes, Tuesday.

Maybe we should charge admission for Book IV to recoup some of the costs?

Just to be sure, this is an inaccurate translation of the text you had blackened out, right? "Beyond the hope of salvation.
Beyond hopes for victory.
Of all the places where and at the time, knows nothing of what will be."

No, I draw from life experiences, but starting a magical war in a mid-size city in the US is not one of those life events that's happened to me. :rainbowlaugh: Worst thing that happened to me as of late is that the hot water heater in the house broke down and that's hardly a crisis.

I'm a writer, and I like to expand my boundaries. 7DSJ Book IV is just one of them. And as I mentioned before, the change is so stark (between that and Book III) that's the reason Book IV exists. I'm also a graphic designer, and I know what constitutes good design, especially when you want to make an impact.

Also if you look closely, the "franchise" title is worn as well:
