Dreams Of Yesterday
I have dreams and I have plan
And I’ll fulfill all that I can.
Write a book, get married in spring
Or defend the title in a WWE ring.
Join the Army or the FBI,
Or jump out a plane high in the sky.
I know who I am and who I wanna be
I wanna be a good person while still being me
Help everyone I know, be the best I can be.
In ten years, I want a house, a place to call my own,
I want a husband and children to watch as they grow.
I want a good job as to not worry about my next meal,
And I don’t want to worry about telling others about how I feel.
I want my children happy and a house full of love
I want to be blessed from God up above.
But there’s dreams and then there’s life,
There’s never a guarantee that one becomes a wife.
I may never have children nor ever find love
And rain may be the only thing I get from above.
But that’s what you don’t learn from books and fairy tales,
All the dreams unfinished, all the plans failed.
They tell you dream big, to go for the gold,
no one saying how you may be left with only dirt when you’re old.
It’s amazing to dream, but with reality mixed in,
So that even if you lose, you’ll still know how to win.
You win by being happy, alone or with another,
You win by always being kind to each other.
Life is hard, yes, but there’s rules to live by
So you aren’t always in a rage as you yell towards the sky.
Sing, dance, laugh, smile.
Spend time with your kids, slow down once in a while.
Don’t worry about life too much, it’s really just a game.
As long as you survive, don’t worry how much you make.
Just live your life, you only get one.
Go out, enjoy it, and have some fun.
