Back to work! · 4:29pm Aug 19th, 2015
I'm back to work again, dabbling in story updates, but mainly banging out a short one shot to get back in practice. I honestly havnt written anything substantian in months, so am a bit rusty. I should have it published soon, if I can get my Editor off his ass to look at it, and then I'll be back to story updates.
Here's a sneak peek at the upcoming R4R chapter!
Sex, Magic, and Rock ‘n Roll
As we made our way through the plaza, I flinched at the sound of high pitched screaming. A girlish giggle erupted from a middle aged pegasus mare as she flew over the crowd, followed by a rather confused looking stallion. The mare was a bright aqua with yellow hair, while her companion was a darker blue with orange hair. I turned to ask Pinkie what was going on, and saw she was facehoofing.
“Oh my Celestia, it’s Pinko Star!” The mare gushed, turning to her companion. “Honey, it’s Pinko Star!” The stallion, who I guessed must be her husband, just shrugged. “Don’t you remember that summer we followed the Hoofbeats around? They were bigger than Celestia!”
“Oh, oh! Pinko, please sign my cutie mark!” Pulling a marker out of her bag, she offered it to Pinkie, who plastered a fake smile on her face as she signed a big star on the butt of the pegasus fan.
“Thanks, umm...” Pinkie prompted.
“Oh, don’t you remember me? Oh of course not, there were so many other mares there, and so much booze, and the music!” Gushing again, the mare hugged herself while staring off at distant memories. I looked over at the stallion, and we shared a shrug and an eye roll.
Females, what can you do?
“But anyway, I’m Sun Glider, and this is my husband, Vector Thrust.” She winked at Pinkie, giving a saucy grin at the double entendre of the name. Her mate just facehoofed, clearly tired of this shit and what was obviously a very old joke.
“Oh, turn around, honey!” With a long suffering sigh, he did as instructed, revealing a young foal on his back. An earth pony foal, with blue fur and a shock of pink hair. “Say hi to the nice people!”
“Hiya!” the colt shot out, waving a stubby hoof excitedly.
“This is our little bundle of energy, Shooting Star!” Leaning in with a giggle, she stage whispered toward us, “We named him after you, Pinko...”
Finally having my fill of the creepy scene, I decided to intervene. “Yea, it’s nice to meet you all, but we kinda have a train to catch and all. Take care!” I grabbed Pinkie and dragged her along into the crowd. Finally we managed to find a relatively quiet corner talk.
“You mind telling me what that was all about, Pinkie?” I rounded on my friend, who was looking a bit shell shocked, and uncharacteristically shy. “Who the hell is Pinko Star?”
“Oh, um, that.” Rubbing the back of her neck, she refused to make eye contact with me as she scrambled for an explanation. “There was this, thing. I kinda spent some time as the drummer in a rock band, and Pinko was my stage name. You know how it goes, Afternoon of Love, Sex Magic, and Rock n’ Roll?” She sighed and looked away into the crowd. “So many groupies, so much booze, so many parties. Who can remember it all?”
“And she was one of the groupies, I take it?” I crossed my arms and glared at her.
“Well maybe, I can’t be sure. But let’s just say there is a good chance there are a few foals out there with bright pink manes...” Clearing her throat, she kicked at the ground with a hoof, still refusing to look me in the eye. My mind suddenly snapped back to the shock of pink mane on the little colt, unlike his parents. I also realized their eyes were both golden in color, while the child’s were a bright blue.
“What? You’re a female! How is that even physically possible?” I yelled in surprise.
“Like I said, ‘Sex, Magic, and Rock ‘n Roll!’.” She sighed and looked back at me finally. “I will tell you one thing though; If a zebra shaman offers to show you her fetish, there is a good chance she isn't talking about sex, although it did get rather kinky!”
“That’s it! I’m done!” Throwing my hands up, I stomped off in disgust.
Oh boy!
One of those weird coincidences: I was just thinking about Room for Rent two days ago, wondering whether it was ever going to continue, and thinking I really should re-read it from the start, one of these days. Clearly I must be psychic!!¡! ... Or it's statistically inevitable that at least one of your thousands of readers will have a fleeting thought about the story at any given point of time, and I just happened to be one of those for whom that moment came shortly before your blog post — but it's probably the psychic powers thing, I'm pretty sure.
GET OUTTA MY HEAD!
It's already over capacity as it is...
Clearly it was a Hard day's night.
That's the Beatles songs title?

And Sun Glider had a Ticket to Ride.
Oh and here is something that I bet everyone else missed! After Bronycon, me and my brony friends all went to see Inside Out. It was an awesome movie, quite literally full of feels. Even the short at the beginning was a tear jerker.
But tell me, did anyone else notice that the girl's parents were both brown eyes brunettes, while Riley was blond with blue eyes? Gotta love genetics. I mentioned this to my friend, and he reminded me that not only was blue eyes not recessive, it is usually carried by the father.
Okay, I'm too tired and/or drunk to do proper research right now as to weather he was correct but here is a quick Wikipedia result!
I am so glad to see this. Drax, my friend, welcome back, and I'm happy to see what looks like a very promising beginning to the newest chapter.
