Upcoming Movies This Year That I'm Interested In (Volume 3) · 1:29am Aug 16th, 2015
This seems to have become a tradition of mine to share the films that I'm looking forward to around this time of the year. So here's the list of films and their respective trailers.
Regression (August 28)
A thriller starring Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson. Should be interesting...
Captive (September 18)
I'm always interested in seeing thrilling films based on true events. The cast looks good too.
Everest (September 18)
As I said, I'm always interested in seeing films about true disasters. This also has a pretty good cast.
About Ray (September 18)
A really good cast and a very fitting film to see pop up. This is a topic that really needs to continue being discussed and addressed and I think we're going to see it being presented more and more from now on; especially with all that's happened this year. I look forward to seeing this happen. Yay for progress!
Before I Wake (September 25)
A Nightmare on Elm Street but with no Freddy Krueger. This looks like it could either be really good or really bad. But it has an interesting concept at least.
My Little Pony: Equestria Girls: Friendship Games (September 26)
This is probably the Equestria Girls film I've anticipated the most. Definitely looking forward to seeing how this side series continues!
The Walk (October 2)
Another film based on a true story. Looks like a film that's going to have some intense cinematography.
Pan (October 9)
If done right, this could become this generation's Hook. Sadly, there's no chance for a Robin Williams cameo...
Steve Jobs (October 9)
Hopefully this will turn out better than the one with Ashton Kutcher...
Crimson Peak (October 16)
I'm always up for a good ghost story. Oh and Loki's here too. The fangirls will like that.
Goosebumps (October 16)
This looks like it could be a hilarious tribute to and parody of the cheesiness of the books and television show. And Jack Black playing a fictionalized R.L. Stine. Awesome!
The Peanuts Movie (November 6)
I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore Peanuts fan but it's nice to see this series returning to the spotlight and being introduced to a new generation. And I love the animation. It's such a wonderful updated version of the original animation style of the show. I can tell that a lot of love is going into this.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 2 (November 20)
This series has been an interesting ride. As someone who hasn't read the books, I'm definitely interested in seeing how everything concludes.
The Good Dinosaur (November 25)
I'm definitely looking forward to this, with me being a huge Pixar fan and all that. Inside Out was fantastic so let's see how their second 2015 outing holds up...
In the Heart of the Sea (December 11)
Another true story disaster film that looks pretty intense.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (December 18)
I'm happy to get the chance to experience a Star Wars trilogy with everyone else. I wasn't alive for the first one and didn't pay the series enough attention during the second one.
Snowden (December 25)
This looks like it's going to be a very controversial movie. But the cast looks good and it's covering a very interesting and controversial event in America's recent history. This will definitely be interesting...
Of course, probably like most people on this site, I am certainly looking forward to Friendship Games!
I have heard of Before I Wake, and it looked interesting to me. You probably already know I'm fascinated with dreams.
As for Pan, it looks like they've deviated so much from J.M. Barrie's original source material. They made Rooney Mara Tiger Lily? Tiger Lily is supposed to be Native American.
As for Goosebumps, I've never read a Goosebumps book. As a child, I was petrified of them. The covers gave me nightmares! In the third grade, my teacher made the class watch two episodes of the TV series on Halloween, and I didn't want to. I was scared. Anyway, if I were a fan, I think I would find the concept here of a fictionalized R.L. Stine and his books becoming real rather silly. Imagine a My Little Pony movie about a fictionalized Lauren Faust running around with the Mane 6 and stuff. Or if the Harry Potter movies were about a fictionalized J.K. Rowling running around with Harry, Ron, and Hermione after they somehow come out of her books. That would be ridiculous.
As for The Good Dinosaur, it's an interesting concept, but the animation is terrible. I mean, the backgrounds look super-realistic, but the characters look really cartoon-y. It's a bizarre juxtaposition.
I am in absolute agreement. It's so exciting because now I'm actually a Star Wars fan. (Though, one of the few who liked Jar Jar Binks.) I can't wait for Episode VII.

I'm with you on that. He still makes me laugh more often than not (at age 25 years and 364 days), and I have to give him credit for not being so much a panicky idiot as someone who's intelligent and aware enough to know what he's panicking about.
The only ones here I'll definitely be seeing in the cinema are Star Wars, Mockingjay Part 2 and The Good Dinosaur. May see some of the others depending on the reviews from the critics I trust. And on whether I'll be able to see them on Thrifty Thursday at my cinema.
The movies at the top of my Watchlist at the moment are SPECTRE and The Hateful Eight.

Eh. With something as cheesy as Goosebumps, I think the concept works.
I personally really like the animation and find the juxtaposition very interesting and appealing to look at. But, as they say, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
