900 Followers and Bronycon Recap · 2:38am Aug 13th, 2015
Well. That was a thing.
It’s a strange feeling to have 900 followers. I’m very grateful for it, of course, and a small part of me does feel vindicated that that many people would be interested enough in my writing to want to be updated for future works. Thank you to everyone for following me, and I hope I can live up to whatever it was that made you interested in my horsewords.
Bronycon was very cool. Got to meet up with a lot of cool authors, some which I’d already met, and others I was meeting for the first time. It’s always a treat to be able to spend a few days with like-minded enthusiasts, and the conversations that wind up happening are always entertaining. I’m not the most social or charismatic of guys, and it’s more often my inclination to fade into the woodwork and just watch the proceedings. When I wasn’t hanging out with friends, I was usually just wandering out randomly just taking in the sights and spaghetti (and boy, was there spaghetti).
I’m not the kind of guy to give you a huge play-by-play recap, as there are plenty of authors who are a lot better at that kind of thing than I am. That, and I really can’t be arsed. If I’m gonna write a few thousand words, it’s gonna be for an actual story. I’ll give you some highlights, though! Hopefully that’ll be enough to sate all you ravenous mongers.
-I had breakfast the first day at MSP airport with the Ponies: Anthology team. It was very clear by their demeanors that they’re very tired of doing this whole thing.
-I nearly lost my check card, my Ipod, and my convention badge at different points in time. I’m convinced now that I’ve used up all my luck for the year.
-I saw Ant-Man with a bunch of fellow authors. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Then again, it’s Marvel. Even their shit is pure gold.
-Speaking of shit, a homeless guy took a massive dump outside as a bunch of us were heading back to our hotel. Stay classy, Baltimore.
-I watched Aquaman take a Rugby Shot. Why exactly he did that is still beyond me, but I’ve long since learned to not question such things.
-I bought a hat with the fimfiction.net logo on it. It’s quite possibly my favorite thing that I bought this year.
Other than that, it was pretty much business as usual for me. I spoke on some panels, hung out with friends, and generally had an awesome time. I’m eagerly looking forward to next year, and hopefully by then, I’ll be a little farther along in my ongoing works.
You're actually the first person to specifically ask why I did that.
As such, you'll be the first person I inform that I didn't have anything close to a good reason other than "I made a promise while drunk at Tir Na Nog, and I keep my drunk promises".
It was entertainment for everyone there.
You hit 900 before me! :D
Someday I'll go to a pony-con of some sort. Someday...
