I'm a writer of fluff, kibitzer, and especially interested in canon AU: Equestria Girls, the comics, etc. They are fun to play with.

    Follow-up on that stalker thing

He seems to have gone quiet for now. I'm assuming the admins managed to smack down all of those alts. I haven't seen any new material on Tumblr or DeviantArt, either.

Speaking of DeviantArt, here's the reply I got from them:

    Thanks for getting in touch!

A member of the DeviantArt staff has reviewed this situation, and we have taken appropriate steps to resolve the problem.

    Just so you know...

There's a person on here who has been creating alts and harassing me. I keep getting posts like "why have you stopped talking to me? Tell me what I did. I need closure." I'm also getting PMs along the order of "yo, why are you ignoring X? I thought you were friends."

    I lurk

I know some people have asked why I won’t say anything, etc., but the truth is that I lurk. I sign in to see something, usually to re-read Rage Reviews. There are some things I can’t see unless I’m a bonafide member over a certain age. And then I just don’t ever log out, but I’m not “here” and ignoring anyone on purpose.

Some people make themselves very, very unhappy

Haven't been around much, but then, you knew that. Busyness, health issues, and frankly a whole lot of depression. Even ponies weren't interesting me very much anymore. I had a ticket to go to EQLA and a party that same weekend, and I did not go to either.

    Hey guys guys guys

So, hi, you haven't probably seen much from me, and that is primarily because I have been sucked in again by my primary fandom, Harry Potter. Which isn't surprising, considering that I help run a convention and teach a course on it and am the school's club's faculty advisor and have given talks on it for, oh, over a decade.

So for me, for the last few months, it has been mostly about:

I am packed up-- · 4:39am Aug 6th, 2015

--and headed for BronyCon tomorrow. I'll be on the shipping panel, "Love Is In Bloom," on Saturday. Bookplayer has a nice panel discussion planned and I can't wait to be part of it.

I did have a blog post I wanted to put up about commentaries and reviews, and I probably will eventually do that. Right now I am pretty wiped. But I'm concerned about the level of demand writers seem to be placing on readers. It seems burdensome and unrealistic. So here is the Shrinky Dink version:

1. You can't control what other people feel about you or your writing, and you have only limited control over another's actions. This is a basic Twelve Step concept, and it's certainly made my life a lot easier.

2. A reader's opinion is that reader's alone. Commentary is for the author, but reviews are for other readers.

3. You can't make a reader read your story, like your story, control the up or down vote button, make the reader give you constructive criticism, explain downvotes . . and that's without getting into the differences between writers, some of whom want concrit in the comments and some of whom want nothing but praise--and then wonder why they are getting so little feedback.

Let go of that, and you will be a happier person.

I agree with every one of your points. Frustrating as it can be to get a story massively downvoted and have no freaking idea WHY, when another story which one regards as trivial by comparison gets nothing but up-votes.

Have a good time at the convention. :pinkiehappy:

Dear scoots2,
I really enjoyed your panel. When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised to see you (I was the girl in the front row with a white hat and tie). You and the other panelists have really inspired me to continue my story, even after its been nearly year. Thank you for all you do and keep on writing!
