By windward strides and holy ghosts, what rests beside the barren coasts?

You know that thing when you've been working on something and you just finished it? And then you read it and realize that it's thematically inappropriate, or oddly paced, or just plain bad? And then you realize you have to re-do about a week's worth of work? And then you are interrupted by the appearance of a young child that can only speak Russian, but they have the most unusual blue eyes, and a

    A bold new direction!

    I have good news, everyone!

Due to recent events, I've come to realize that sustaining my current pace of work is simply not going to happen. In between my busy schedule of work, video games, crying in my shower, and training to beat the record for most packets of instant oatmeal cooked in a day, I'm simply swamped.

Currently typing up an epic chapter in a very comfortable chair at a Starbucks that is normally full. This chapter provides a bit more backstory into Celestia and Luna, not as people, or gods, but into the roles they play. They are both immortal, almost all-powerful beings, though they are clearly not omniscient (Changeling Incident, anyone?). The fact of the matter is, both Celestia and Luna are imperfect beings, just like the Greek gods of old. They are prone to wrath and pride and all the things we are, but less often. Unfortunately that is offset by the fact that they are in charge of everyone, and I mean everyone. That means the mistakes they make are usually huge, when they make them. They not only affect them, or the people close to them, but everyone. And they, being immortal, have to watch the repercussions of their mistakes resonate throughout history.

And that's why I'm writing this blog post. Equestria has a lot of history, especially in my world. There are a lot of powerful, magical things that manage to avoid the ravages of time, and slip through the cracks in the system. Then they sit, and they fester, and they wait for somepony to stumble across them. Just like in our world, there are things lost to time, deep in the dark and dangerous places, waiting to be discovered, for good or ill. Did you know that we still are finding tribes of people living like it's the stone age, on islands in the Pacific and in the jungles of the Amazon? We find roughly 15,000 new species every year, and scientists estimate that we have discovered less than a quarter of the almost 7,000,000 species on our planet, circling one of hundreds of thousands of stars in one arm of a galaxy, in a universe that not only resists defining it on a large scale, but outright laughs at observation on a sub-atomic scale.

That is one of the main ideas of my story. There is a whole world out there, vast in its size, but incredible in its detail. Every day, you walk by something that hasn't been discovered yet, some thing that could change not only your life, but every life. Einstein once said "God does not play dice with the universe.". I agree with the principle. And I hope you can realize both the infinite greatness and the amazing detail in our universe, and how you fit perfectly into it.

Food for thought. Update soon.
