I'm in need of money, fast

I just lost my job. My supervisor basically just straight up lied to get me fired. This has been the third job in a row where a coworker screwed me over. So, I'm trying to get a laptop so I can work from home. The problem is, I have no money. my last paycheck is just enough for my rent, and that's it.

I Hate Stupid People · 12:51am Jul 17th, 2015

So, an author went on an interesting rant about how much they hate Luna in a blog. It was... interesting to say the least. Anyway, this is the author's review of “Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep” in which the rant was made;

I'm going to say something that is most likely going to piss a lot of you off, and probably lose me some followers:
I dislike Princess Luna. I am completely serious when I say this.
I was interested in her character when she appeared in season 1, and then went missing. So many headcanon theories about what she was like, since we barely saw her at all. I was a little hesitant when I saw her in Luna Eclipsed, but I grew to like her well enough. She was extremely different from what we'd seen of Celestia last season, and I thought that made her a great foil. I was happy to welcome her into the cast.
After that, I noticed her popularity skyrocketed to a very intimidating level, especially in one noticeable area: John Joseco's Princess Molestia blog. That blog was one of the things that originally pushed me to writing clop stories because I loved watching a sexually aggressive Celestia. I was of course happy to see Luna pop up every now and then, but as season 2 progressed, we began to see more and more of her in the blog. And it wasn't just "Luna" we were seeing; it was Gamer Luna. I've got my own hang ups about the idea of Gamer Luna to begin with, but even this incarnation of the fan character rustled me a bit. Gamer Luna seemed less like Luna, and more like John Joseco himself using a Luna puppet to put his own voice through (since Luna usually ended up talking about whatever new video games had just been released, I assumed that's what games JJ was playing at the time). By the time season 3 was in full swing, Molestia had been downgraded from "main character of her own blog" to "weirdo supporting character that makes Luna feel uncomfortable". And even after that, Molestia just kept appearing less and less frequently, maybe getting her own strip once for every four strips that Luna got.
Meanwhile, pretty much everyone else in the fandom is just as obsessed with Luna, to the point where some people want her to replace Celestia entirely. People say that Celestia's "boring" because she's got no flaws, and that Luna has more intrigue and depth (for reasons I can't fathom). While I was initially excited to see her in Sleepless in Ponyville, I was rather annoyed when she appeared in Sweetie Belle tolls. Not only did the dream sequence she appeared in seem forced, but she also appeared in the morning as well (when she should have been fucking sleeping, and Celestia should be up and about doing things). When she appeared in Bloom and Doom or whatever it was called, I was more than upset. I actually started booing.
So that leads us to Luna's recent episode. When it was first announced, I wasn't happy. People were rejoicing, saying it had been so long since Luna's last episode, even though Celestia's episode was... never ago. Yes, I was jealous, or envious, whatever. I didn't like that everyone was getting to see their favorite princess get her second episode while mine still had neither. Felt like she was being pushed aside and nobody gave a crap about it. Didn't feel good. So, the episode itself:
I tried to go in with an open mind, I really did. And to be fair, there were good parts in this episode, namely the parts that showed what the many different characters dreamed about regularly. Princess Big Mac and giant Derpy? Yes please.
But dear god, every scene Luna was in just sucked the fun right out of the episode. First the opening scene shows her in a dream turning into the terrible Nightmare Moon, because we can't convey Luna's depth without that tired plot device can we? When she shows up to the mane six, she immediately takes control of the situation, with none of them really wanting to question her, they just follow her orders like she's the greatest thing under the sun moon and they're so lucky to be bossed around by her. The only one to question her is when Twilight asked if they should talk to Celestia, and Luna quickly dismissing her. I forgot what she said exactly, but what I heard was "No, Celestia sucks, nobody cares about her, she's not gonna be in this episode". Talk about a slap in the face for me.
First act of the episode, Luna's just in full super hero mode, goes from each character's dream chasing the Tantibus and making them impressed that she showed up to "save them". Last act of the episode? She goes full on masochist-emo and says (with tears in her eyes) she created the damn thing herself as a means to give herself mental torture as punishment for being Nightmare Moon, something that nopony has been shown to have held against her since season 2. I actually felt a little bit queasy that I was seeing this happen. Seriously? She created something to give her nightmares on purpose? That is the most whiny, self-pitying thing someone could ever do. Like she's wanting to wallow in her own misery, just so she and others will feel sorry for her. It felt like the writers had crammed in every Luna fanfic ever and stuffed it all into one episode for the fans. I was even more upset to find out that a number of fans actually enjoyed seeing Luna like that, and defended her by saying she "wasn't whining" or that her lament made sense, despite her acting absolutely fine after Luna Eclipsed up until this point. And that's when I realized my assumptions about this character had been pretty close to truth: Luna's most in her element with the fandom when she's pathetic. When she's crying about her tragic past, being tortured over her time as Nightmare Moon, fans eat it up. They feel so bad poor wittle Wuna and her dawk descent into madness, wehhhhhh`, because it's so relateable! Please. I've got a past I regret, but I didn't intentionally create something to torture myself. I have more sense than that. (My other assumption was that Luna could do pretty much anything and have it met with positive reception; she could show for five seconds, blink, and then leave, and her fans would be losing their minds at the display of depth and intrigue she exhibited)
So with this episode, Luna's pretty much dead to me. I don't see myself writing anything with her being anything more than a side character that makes a brief cameo and doesn't hold any importance to the overall story. I actually hate her as much as I hate Flash Sentry now.

After reading this ridiculous review, the following “discussion” took place.

Me: While I agree that Celestia doesn't get her due respect from the fandom, I can't help but think your views on Luna are incredibly flawed. First, among the reasons you gave for disliking her is the Princess Molestia blog? WTF? Who hates a character based on a fan made blog? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!

Another reason you gave was because she was awake during the day in The Sweetie Belle tolls for Thee. You do realize that Luna's nocturnal nature is 100% fanon, right? Never has the show ever said that she sleeps all day. That would be like being upset if a future episode says changelings don't have a hive-mind.

Third, you say you don't like her showing regret for almost destroying the world. You do realize what she nearly did, don't you? She tried to kill everything! Of course she would regret it and beat herself up! Her reaction of creating something to punish herself is easily believable. What, do you want her to just shrug off the attempted murder of all life on the planet?

Finally, throughout it all, you talk about how another reason is because people like her more than Celestia. That's the most ridiculous reason ever. Why would you let the opinions of others decide what you like or don't like?

All in all, you sound like a hipster. It's like you're going against the masses just for the sake of going against the masses. The problem with that line of thinking is that the masses still decide what you can like or dislike. If you want to show your individuality, stop trying to show your individuality.

Author:

attempted murder of all life on the planet?

And you're lecturing me on headcanon? Check yourself before you Shrek yourself, m8.

If you want to read about what me and [redacted] said about character regression, read it here >> shirotora but I'm pretty sure you're ready to defend Lulu anyhow.

Me: Read what where? You linked my comment again.

I'm not one of these typical internet retards that refuse to listen to opinions that are different than my own. If you have a counter argument, I'd love to hear it. I'm an open minded person, and even though I like Luna, I'd love to hear what you have to say. There have been plenty of arguments as to why Luna is a bad princess that I've conceded to.
However;

attempted murder of all life on the planet?

And you're lecturing me on headcanon?

This isn't headcanon. If she brought eternal night, it would would mean the death of all life on the planet. This is scientific fact, not headcanon. Life needs the day/night cycle to flourish.

Author: It's the comment literally below the one you just replied to

This is scientific fact

Scientific fact also says that the Earth naturally rotates around the sun, and the moon naturally rotates around the Earth.

Now go away.

Me: In both the Winter Wrap-up and Hearth's Warming episodes it was mentioned that plants need sunshine to grow.

Author: So? Pony life isn't exclusively tied to plant life. You're grasping at straws just to be right or to defend Wuna.

Get lost. I'm deleting your comments after this.

Me:

Pony life isn't exclusively tied to plant life.

What? Yes, it is. What do you think they eat? All life is tied to plant life.

I'm deleting your comments after this.

This just proves your small mindedness. Someone says something other than what you want to hear, and you throw a fit. You sound like just another over privileged child.

That last was was deleted by the author.

So... yeah. These are the kind of small minded children that really irk me. I mean, can you be any more pretentious?

This is beyond stupid. It's downright idiotic

3244301 Sadly, stupid people are a fact of life. The best thing we can do is point and laugh. That way, at least they have a purpose.

3244316 what we could become as a species if people were intelligent

"Pony life isn't exclusively tied to plant life."
That line alone is enough to classify this guy as an idiot.
Did he even read what he typed before hitting the submit button?
lol and then deletes your comments. how dare you sir fight his idiocy with logic! the nerve :rainbowwild:

3244320 Honestly, intelligence is only one of many, many strengths. One thing I've noticed about 'intelligent' people, is that they sacrifice other qualities for it. I, myself, am intelligent, and creative, but I often lack common sense. I can devise unique and creative solutions to problems, but often miss the obvious one right in front of my face.

A world where everyone is intelligent would not be a good world, but there is a difference between not being intelligent and being ignorant. Many people have trouble grasping science and technology, but ignorance is a choice.

How dare that Shirotora guy argue with someone on the internet and bring logic into it!?

Such arrogance! That's the worst kind of blasphemy! We should find him and...

Idunno, give him a medal or something? There's a point where 'there's magic involved, your logic doesn't work anymore' is just an excuse, and no longer a reason. For example, you can explain away the solar mechanics as either Celestia and Luna are not controlling the sun/moon, but rather spinning the planet, or the Sun/Moon are very small and very near, thus leaving them in mass TK or Alicorn connection range. But stating that everything would be hunky-dory in a sunless world after it's been working in a day-night cycle for untold eons? No. that would only work if the world was without the sun first, and the day-night cycle was an aberrant period that NMM was correcting.

Dragons eat gemstones, okay, that's magic-handwave-able. Stating this means they have jaws with strength and teeth capable of smashign the gems? Doesn't need magic, that's physics, though it could be magical, and would mean dragons can't just chew through anything, just gems. Stating that a sudden alteration to the base function of the world would have no negative impact on the world drops out of magic silliness and straight into plain stupidity. Any global change to any variable, no matter how minor, will cause climatic backlash. Hell, just taking out the mosquitoes from the environment can collapse entire ecosystems, taking something as central as the sun out of the equation will end the planet's life down to the mono-cellular level. The only things left will be cold-adapted bacteria, unless Equestria is on a standard-shape planet, at which point even those will die as the far side cooks and the moon-side will freeze, and the atmosphere will boil off and vanish, leaving a dead husk.

3244400

Hell, just taking out the mosquitoes from the environment can collapse entire ecosystems

Sad, but true. F***ing mosquitoes :twilightangry2:

This is one of those moments where I like to quote Harlan Ellison: "You are not entitled to your opinion, you are entitled to your INFORMED opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant."

If the author that you spoke to followed this... well this blog post probably wouldn't have any reason to exist huh?

3244320
Then we will be known as Hu-Mon :trollestia:

The review on Luna is ridiculous.
Even though I am not fan of Luna. (TS is best Pone) But that saying Luna shouldn't regret her action is like saying to Einsten that he should be happy about the bombs that cause Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

3244398 this is very true. I suppose being surrounded by intelligent people would kinda suck

3244485 A damn fine quote. I like this Harlan Ellison.

3244557 It's the fact that the author actually said that ponies would be just fine if all plant life died that I find sad.

3244560 Yeah, nothing but smart asses would suck. Though, I suppose it would be better than all dumb asses.

By the way, quick suggestion: in one of you reposts of the person's comments, you left a username in that could make finding the op easier. May want to remove that

3244560 Do you see how my comments aren't even being read by the author? I try to be civil and mature, and she just deletes and sulks like a child. It's sad.

3244776 she's being very childish. It's sad

3244687
Aye, guess the author is one of those 'Magic over logic'

3244786 Yeah, it's rather sad, especially seeing as she has promise as a writer. Unfortunately, she'll never progress with her attitude.

P.S. Thanks for alerting me to that little mistake. I think I got it... unless there's another.

3244804 none that I saw. Just thought that the last thing she needs is dozens more people trying to argue with her for arguments sake, rather than try to make her see a more rational way of dealing with the situation

Edit: she ain't learning anytime soon

3244840 And now your comments are being deleted :rainbowlaugh:.

3244857 oh, I backed them up. Don't worry

3261935 Yeah, yeah. I know, but it's hard. It's just so irritating.

3261998 I know, buddy. :applejackunsure: I can't help it myself most of the time. I got dragged into a My Little Pony canon vs. non-cannon debate in front of my girlfriend once. She was obviously unimpressed... I couldn't help it. The other person was wrong... :twilightoops: It was like a little part of my brain was screaming that I couldn't let them go uncorrected. Any way, yes, the person described by you is clearly an idiot.

3262054 It's especially sad when it's a talented writer like this one.

hey i know who wrote that blog post and i think he keeps making an ass out of himself

Fuck the Luna debate

he keeps getting so annoyed so easily, i hate authors like that and he use to be my favorite but now...

Fuck him and his immature ways of dealing with people

3333788 Yeah, the author has talent, but she (I think it's a she) is kind of a pretentious hipster.

Then again, is there another kind of hipster?

3334320 Illuminati confirmed
