Not doing to hot this week. · 5:45am Jul 12th, 2015
Everyone has problems, I am not special. However I am having problems this last week, and for once in my life this dose actually effect other people. I am having great difficulty getting the motivation to write, and when I do it's not to the tone of the ongoing stories I have going.
The problem with chronic depression, aside from being what it is, is it makes it very hard to write comedy into your plot. If I proceeded to write right now, I would probably end up doing something needlessly cruel to a character you like for reasons which won't sound sane to anyone. I'll do my best to balance out the chemicals in my meatbag and resume normal operation, but well, none of us actually have control over that.
So I won't have to answer any comments about why I am depressed, chronic depression is a mental illness, sometimes at complete random your brain just flips a switch and you spend three days working up the motivation to write a blog post. But because that's not satisfying to humans, and we need a actual thing to blame and an obvious cause for problems due to the cognitive bias which makes us have to feel in control of our lives, feel free to pick one of these kinda crappy current events to blame:
1. My girlfriend has to work a swing shift this week to cover for her boss, thus I wont see her except for just after dinner for a few hours before she passes out exhausted.
2a. I am unempolyable due to being over educated, my mentle health is on my public record (I am schizophrenic), my dad's a felon, and I have been unemployed so long it looks very bad on a resume. Thus my girlfriend (I just realized we can marry now, so at least there's that) provides all the financial income, and her stress is my stress as I live to keep her happy.
2b. Poverty sucks.
3. I am chemically addicted to caffeine. Yes you can be addicted to caffeine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine_dependence My stock of black tea (which has enough caffeine in it to keep me going) became infested with mold. Because poverty I cant afford more right now. Oh and the "has no withdrawal" thing people say is TOTAL BULLSHIT! Migraines all the time...
4. My upstairs neighbors have changed. The new ones find it acceptable to install subwoofers and play rap maxed out from 9 pm to 9 pm the next day. 24 hours of dull thumping and expletives. Yay.
5. My plan to write a story to see how people reacted to scifi and fantasy elements I invented for a universe I intend to publish as original fiction is not going well at all because people comment more on the jokes, humor, and emotional moments more than anything else...
This last one is for the religious.
6. God did it.
I'm sorry you feel this way, but I can't help. Get well soon meep.
1. That sucks
2a. Over educated? If I was a boss, I'd want the best of the best..
Your dads criminal records shouldn't effect family members. people are stupid.
2b. You said it
3. I went through something like that, (not trying to be rude) you should really ease off it, at least until caffeine is a want rather than a need
4. Ugh... Two to three hours at most a day, any more use headphones. They can go fuck themselves, with a knife.
5. But I think you're doing great...
6. He can go fuck himself, with a knife.

1. Yep
2a. You have to actually pay people with a college degree more than other people... It's a law. This means you are "over qualified" for a job and are "polity" rejected.
2b. Yep
3. I have one luxury, the uberfocus of caffeine. It's as close to being inorganic as I'll ever get. If I have to be stuck in a meatbag with it's 280+ medically documented cognitive errors, I am going to at least be on a stimulant who's only side effects are the withdrawals.
4. Personally, that genera of music should be illegal as it's basically just "Noise Ordnance Violation: The Musical Styling." It's like they chose the loudest most carrying sounds available and made a music genera out of them, anarchic messages, and racial slurs.
5. I guess I'm just looking for more feedback than "It's good." Why is it good? What dose ti make you feel? How would you improve it? What would you change? What in it is interesting to you? Did it provoke any thoughts? I don't know... maybe pony fic just isn't the place to try to tell a story and have it taken seriously despite being a bit silly and fun.
6. He could if he existed... but he docent.
If you can't have caffeine can you have catffeine? savethecat.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/cats.jpg
hopefully you get better soon.
3230541 Possibly, I mean, if I liked animals. But I dont.
3230553 :( I wish I had some way to help you feel better. I always enjoyed the sci-fi elements in your story. Like the way you made Scootaloo fly was amazing!
Unfortunately I've been so busy lately I haven't had time to read a lot of your updates, let alone comment.
3230558 That's fine. I understand that other people have lives and do things and don't jsut spend all day writing, and commenting. I really dont want to drag you down with me. I'll jsut go back to being quiet.
3230563 Didn't mean to make you more depressed D: just wanted you to know that while the comedy and drama spiced up the story for me, what really kept me reading was the sci-fi and fantasy elements you mentioned.
Your ability to imagine something and describe it honestly makes me a bit envious. I'm trying to write a story, none pony, but I can't even get it started. :(
3230566 It's way easier than anyone makes it. Just write a short 2-3 sentence description of what happens in a scene in the story and why. Then make it a paragraph filling in the important elements in that scene. Then write the actual scene. If you have already worked out a plot structure and a 1 page or so outline of the story in it's entirety, everything should just drop into place.

2a. owch.
3. I'm that case, have it, by all means.
4. As much as I hate to say it, yes, I'm 99% with you on that (excluding me, of course)
5.
Why is it good? You have great character dev, I love the worldbuilding you've done, and between you and you're editor, superb writing skills.
What does it make me feel? excitement, happiness, with after effects of sadness, loneliness, hopelessness, and and anger....
totally worth it. (damn, still hear that line in Talis' voice)
How would I improve it? I couldn't, but I tend to notice that, even with the 5k+ word chapters, everything seems rushed, but like the story still advances at a crawl, maybe I'm just excited to read it.
What would I change? Add a forth wall portal that will allow us readers to enter into your universe.
What in it that interests me? Easy, tech, ponies, tech, magic, ponies, an awesome story, ponies, tech, ect.
Provoke any thoughts? Not any deep existential thoughts (maybe I did, I have those all the time, I might of forgotten)
But your fics are some of the few I enjoy thinking about whenever I'm bored out of my mind.
6. it is a possibility, but even if he is real, we can ignore him/her/them/it, because 'omnipotent' beings are dicks
3230582
Could you elaborate? That sounds genuinely interesting.
6. Actually we can and have empirically disproven the notion of gods which do anything at all other than having created this thing then just totally ignored it. It's just so culturally ingrained people refuse to bereave reality.
Have you considered starting a Patreon? Even if it ends up being a few bucks a month it might help a little with the income issues.
Alternatively, you could post a Black Tea Paypal fund link.
3230587 I mostly had that in mind as a joke, but if you could incorporate it, make a portal where, if a reader wanted to, could contact the author, and literally write them (the reader, not their oc) into the story, they would then be physically in the story. Basically the ultimate universe.
(I trust, you know this, but if you do it, don't make it forced)
3230780 I have, but that's actually against the patrion terms of use as I am using someone's registered trademarks in my works without permission to do so. I actualy asked them...
My plan is to post a story, see how people like it, then work i into original fiction and publish that.
1. Can't help.
2. Can't help, wish I could send money.
3. I sympathize with the migraines. Every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday that I have to interact with people I get one.
4. File a noise complaint. If you live in an apartment, most places are required to make them stop if you file one.
5. I love the interaction between Sci-Fi and Fantasy, I LOVE your stories, you're awesome, all 163 of us think so and know so.
6. I'm agnostic. On the one-in-a-trillion chance they're real, I'd make a deal with the devil to be omnipotent for a day, solve every problem in the world, like war, hunger, crime, and you not being rich, then make him go screw a nitric acid barrel without being invulnerable.
