Changing Usernames Is Easy And Fun. Also, thanks everyone! · 12:41pm Jul 25th, 2012
When I created this account, it was with the sole purpose of publishing Mustang's story. Since my imagination was exhausted with the strenuous effort of birthing what at the time was a dull compound of terrible mediocrity (those who've followed me from the start know it's true), I just mixed Mustang's name with my favourite song ever, and got on to the part that itnerested me: posting the story, getting feedback. It's been a while since, and, with hard work, and some help from my friends Acrew Ball (check out his devianart and tumblr account, they're pretty damn awesome... someone enjoys their outlines rough, and I like that), Japanese Teeth, Sessalisk, Perpetual Lurker, Just Another Brony, Billy Colt, Sereg, and a few more, not necessarily in that order.
It is thanks to these wonderful people that I managed to improve this little fantasy from "crappy" to "not a complete waste of time", and I'm very thankful to them for that. Also very thankful for the works they gave me to review: they were a pleasure to read, and the adjustments I need to suggest are always so minimal, I might as well not have done anything at all: they're just that amazing.
As for me, I just wanted to tell you, I've changed my username to Blank!, which might pack a little more punch while still being pony-themed, and will discourage the readers of thinking that Mustang is an author avatar. He's not. I would even say that I went out of my way to make him as different from me as possible. I just wanted to make it clear. Sure, he does have some fragments of my personality, just like all of the other characters, but that's because I find it easier to write what I know.
The day I'm able to write a character that does not share a shred of my personality or a trace of my thoughts will be a great day ineed, but, for now, the limitless vistas of Pure Imagination elude me, and I can't help but build on what's already there. I'd just like you to bear in mind that there's a difference between that and actually projecting yourself into a story to fulfill your own fantasies.
After all, I'm already fulfilling my own fantasy: writing a story, one that isn't utter crap. The fantasy won't have come completely true until I finish it, and I intend to prolong the pleasure, so prepare yourselves for a ride!
Final note: I'm in the middle of reworking the chapters that were already written, and of outlining the plot of what's to follow. I'm also having to do some research on aerial dogfighting, which is slowing me a fair bit. Given how incoherent physics are in the Ponyverse (and how they don't even seem to run on Law Of Narrative Causality, or at least have a fairly special brand of it), I may decide to just flip that shit out
and just wing it and make shucks up as I go along.
(Heh, wing it, geddit, cuz it's about aerial fighting )
Thanks. I was glad that I was able to help a bit.
249136 And boy am I glad that you did.
