Well, there may, in fact be some of you with the same legendary patience of the people waiting for half-life three to come out. The same kind of people hoping that my story will update eventually. I've gotten some questions about that.
Okay, more like one. But it's the thought that counts, right? Right?
To answer your questions, yes. I will finish it. I'm not evil enough to just leave people who like something I've made hanging. Plus, I was reminded of how sad it is when an author just drops a story.
The trouble is, I don't quite have that same spark, and ideas aren't coming as easily anymore. I kinda got discouraged midway through the ending, thinking the story wasn't all that great. But I've realized it's a fanfiction, and a beginning one at that. A recent 6-month personal project of mine taught me that I shouldn't expect perfection, just have fun with it.
I've also recently decided that the climactic ending I'd originally intended felt more than a little forced and unnatural for both the canon and original characters, so I decided to do a massive re-haul of the chapters I've been working on that'll cut out large portions of what I've already written. I don't have much of a plan for how to end the story, but that's okay. Coming up with new ideas is one of the fun parts of storytelling. I've also decided to go back and re-read the previous chapters to reacquaint myself with the story before publishing the new ones.
And that's another thing. When I do publish the last chapters, the completion tag will switch from haitus to complete. That's right, I plan to publish all of the ending chapters at once.
It'll take some time to write them and figure out what to do with the story in the meantime.
So... Fallout 4 was announced before you updated your story. That's an amusing thought.
