A new announcement on "Contrast," the upcoming series for the fifth generation of My Little Pony, has been made. While in the original press release, Nicole Oliver, Tabitha St. Germain, Tara Strong, and Rebecca Stoichet were confirmed to be reprising their roles as Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Twilight Sparkle, and Sunset Shimmer, further casting has been revealed; interestingly enough, all of them have previously worked on the Generation 4 series "Friendship Is Magic," which Contrast is apparently drawing heavy lore elements from.

Britt Irvin, Cathy Weseluck, Ashleigh Ball, Andrea Libman, Kathleen Barr, and Diana Kaarina will also be voicing members of the main cast, while Britt McKillip and Trevor Devall will voice recurring characters with a great deal of importance to the overarching storyline. While McKillip has been confirmed to play Princess Cadence from FIM, (who, in her words, has been given much more to do this time) it has also been stated that three of the VAs will be playing different roles than they did before, though apparently all of the characters will be from My Little Pony's prior generations. Until further details are revealed, it will be fun to speculate on who else may return from Friendship Is Magic, and which three other characters may be brought to the fore for this series.

No new plot details are forthcoming at this time, though the showrunner did leave an intentionally criptic statement that "We do have a plan, though, and we think everything will become crystal clear in due time."
