So I found this out today · 12:42pm May 12th, 2015
Hey guys, I just wanted to know if anyone knew about the site goodreads? The reason I ask is because I was searching for my stories on google (which I do from time to time to see if people are talking about them), and I found that (at least a link to) Twilight Sparkle Accidentally Buys a Clopbot had been posted there by someone. Now, I've never used the site myself, so I don't know how it works, but it does list me as the author, so I don't know if that means that the story was posted by someone posing as me (which isn't cool, since I did not give my permission for anyone to do so), or if someone just decided to include my story on that site as part of a list of stories they like and had include my name as the author, which I guess is okay, I just wish I had been told about it first. So, yeah, I just thought I'd put that out there.
The mods posted a warning about that site alittle while ago, I think. Goodreads is making money off it too. I'm not sure if anyone has successfully managed to take their work down.
3064100 I did some digging around on fimfiction, searching goodreads under "blogs" and I guess someone by the name of facedeer has just been using it as a way to make a list of his or her favorite fanfics so other people who aren't on fimfiction might be able to find them.

You're right, I am confusing it with a different site. I remember the group name now too.
Goodreads is just a place where you can comment on books you've read and share reviews with other people. It's a kind of recommendation thing, so you can follow reviewers who have similar tastes to your own & learn about new things to read. It's also kinda social, so friends can share what they're reading.
The actual stories aren't posted there, or at least shouldn't. Unless someone uses their review space to copy & paste the whole text, I suppose. In that case, reporting them to the Goodreads admins is best.
But, yeah, likely they just enjoyed your story and wanted to put in on their list of things they've read & recommend.
3064472 Yeah, that's what I figured, but since I've never used the site myself, I figured I'd just ask to make sure that my assumption was correct.

What was this other site they warned about? That was also what I thought of when I read 'goodreads'.

I confused it with this: http://www.fimfiction.net/blog/471035/psa-potential-story-thefts
Don't ask me why.

Ah yes, that's right. The site seems to have been taken down though.
Going there I get this error:

Oh, I didn't check! That's great news.
Yeah, goodreads is totally legit (as other people have mentioned). The actual story content is not posted, and it's not only for fanfiction, but actual published fiction as well. There is an android app for it, and probably an apple app, too.
