Writting hiccups · 4:00pm May 10th, 2015

Writing hiccups: we all have them from time to time. I'm not talking about find motivation or writer's block or anything like that. I'm talking about writing yourself into a corner, or reading what you have written and realizing that there are some "problems" happening in the story.

The issue can come about in scenes where a character needs to get out of a certain situation. You need to plan for every conceivable thing that all sides of the conflict might do, and how to maneuver you characters around so that certain characters succeed and the others fail. The best example of this is that in a story I'm currently working on, some brave ponies end up face-to-face with something that wants to capture them.

How do they get out of it? Well, split up, fly away, cause a distraction. Any one of a hundred different things could be employed. This is where the hiccup comes into play: what did I forget about?

If you guessed that Twilight has the ability to freakin' teleport, then congratulations! You win!

So I have them all running to meetup somewhere, when instead, Twi could of just sparked up her head spike and ported them off to an ice-cream parlor where they relax and enjoy the nice summer afternoon in peace and harmony. Actually, thinking about it, they could have flown away as well... actually, probably not. I don't think she's strong enough to fly while carrying anyone else just yet.

So, just the teleporting thing. I wonder how I can fix that...
meh
I'll think of something.
