    Sincere Shilling!

If you like D&D stuff, or just tabletop rpg stuff in general, one of the people I follow online is trying to get funding to create something to sell for Dungeon Masters to increase immersion.

    Happy Holidays

This is your yearly reminder that I wrote a decently funny Christmas story in the long-ago times. If you haven't read it, you should! If you have read it, maybe you should just stick with blurred memories of how good it was.

    Books!

So, due to my high level connections here and there, I now have an advance copy of several highly sought after ponyfic books. Now that I've had a chance to check several of them out in person, I have to say that Ponyfeather Publishing does excellent work. Anyone able to pick one up, at Bronycon or ordering them afterward, should totally do so.

Last Week on City Of Doors 7/7/2019

So, I've actually been posting on my primary blog lately. Which has been nice, given that I've pulled myself out of depression enough to actually do stuff like that. So, here's been my daily content over there:

Anime: Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

Biblical Monsters: Lost Angel by Minalkra

Pretty much a epilogue of the previous story. By a different author, but it matches up pretty well. Pretty much just Celestia’s reaction to the events of the previous story. Which matches exactly how I’d picture Celestia reacting. Well, in my head it’s a toss-up between this story and burning all life off the planet with divine fire. Well-written, a good follow-up.

This was a good one. Only annoying bit is that I couldn’t read it on my kindle. The entire chapter of invisible text was a bit much, but it was a nicely written story. Just enough comedy and seriousness mixed together. More of the dramatic with just a touch of the silly here and there.

The Boneyard by Cloud Wander
[story link] [my original review]

This is one of the better pony fanfics I’ve read. Like, overall. More to the point, this is a wonderful example of how to write a really good fanfic that is both original and faithful to the source material. This story was a good blend of original and pony and mixed them well. Has great worldbuilding and wonderful mythic flavor in various parts of it. Not to mention a really well done somewhat simpleminded character. Simple, but not stupid. That’s really hard to pull off in any medium. All three characters are well constructed and I wouldn’t mind reading more stories about them.

Matchmaker, Matchmaker by Abalidoth
[story link] [my original review]

Very short, but pretty good. This is almost a light version of Cerulean. This one is just a few related scenes rather then a cohesive flowing narrative. Though this one has them in order and much more tightly connected.

The Last Stand of King Sombra by Blueshift
[story link] [my original review]

This is hilarious. Doesn’t match up with any show canon of course, but for comedy this good I’ll let a lot of things slide. Seeing Sombra come up with one cheesy trick after another, and the mane six falling for them, was great silly fun.

Another one that is even better to read out loud to someone.

As always, The Big Master Review List is here: { THE MASTER LIST }
If you know of a text-format reviewer I'm not keeping track of, please let me know and I'll see if they meet the criteria to be assimilated into the list.

If you are an author who wants a more detailed review of a story I've covered feel free to message me. My reviews tend to be fairly light, mostly just reactions to a story right after reading it. I am happy to give a more careful read and reply to anyone who wants more precision and/or feedback.
