Okay, so I'm working on the new clopfic I mentioned last post (which you guys still haven't guessed the ship of :3) and I sorta planned it as a semi-mindless clop since I hadn't written such material before.
I can't fucking do it.
I don't mind the occasional mindless clopfic. It's just that I couldn't continue writing because something was missing, and that was character. I simply couldn't make a flat character for this fic and had to add all these things to bring them to life. This isn't bad, mind you. I'm proud of myself for being able to make round characters. I just can't make a flat one, when all I needed was a kinda flat one. I have motive, exposition, personality,... the works. It's going to take me a bit longer to write this than I had anticipated. Ah well, I can at least wrap up the Ancient Rituals sequel, since that's close to finished.
No offense, but...
EVERY character in the majority of ALL clopfics are flat, dude.
Because a clopfic is all about the sex. It is VERY hard to write a clopfic with developed characters, and most of the time the reader isn't reading your story to appreciate the effort you put into developing those characters, which must feel a great shame.
I am sorry, but...that's my honest thoughts...
I mean, what I say doesn't matter. It shouldn't stop you from writing it if you want to. But ask yourself this...
If you go ahead and write a clopfic, what are you hoping for it to be read for?
For the story, or - dare I make this damn joke - for the 'plot'?
Think about that.

2892739 Well, i am writing it for the clop, but I need a story for it. Kinda like how you need healthy food before eating a cheesecake.
I had a similar situation with HLW, as i wanted a threesome clopfic, but I couldn't make one without the story before it.

Because you'll need to be a fucking good writer to pull that off. I've only come across a couple of folk on this site who were able to make the story more interesting in their clopfics, and they're by writer who don't specialize in clopfiction.
Not that I'm saying you can't write as good or anything. I'm just saying you'll need to think this story of yours out VERY well if you want to make it a balance of both worlds and make it work. Because with pornographic fiction, you either have the story, or the porn. You rarely can have both in your literature.
