Check it out: I wrote a thing!
I won't be going to the con myself, but how could I resist tossing my hat into the ring? Especially since the maximum limit is only 1000 to 3000 words. Why, there's plenty of time left to write a story that short! It couldn't possibly be easier!
Ahh, massive sarcasm italics. As you may know, brevity does not come easily to me, so this was an excellent chance for me to practice keeping things short and sweet. It was remarkably difficult to keep the length under control, and in spite of all my efforts I still had to cut a few hundred words. A brutal but valuable lesson.
