OK! Just, WHAT THE HELL!!?? · 3:48pm Mar 15th, 2015
So, how crooked is this place? How unfair is this place? I work my arse off on "The New Kid" and I get 80 likes, and 4 dislikes. Which by the way I'm very grateful for by the way, thank's to all who've read it and liked it!
Anyway, I go on the home page of this website and I see a story on the Featured list that had,
67 likes, and 8 dislikes...
WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK!!
The only time one of my stories was featured, it was for Changeling or Not with about 40 something likes. I did more than surpass that story's likes, I also have less dislikes! So, I don't know how they judge a story and how they categorize them as popular, but dammit I want my story featured!
I WANT MY RECOGNITION!!
What about view count?
2879737 Well, let's compare!
Amor: 385 views.
The New Kid: 603 views.
It's either whoever wrote Armor is sleeping with the editors of this site, or the system's broken!

Edit: Scratch that, found the problem. If you're referring to the story 'Amor', here's the reason: The writer of that story has 349 followers, and you have 49. Meaning that he got a larger influx of attention in a shorter amount of time, because his followers were notified when his story was posted.

The way I heard it, the system doesn't recognize neither faves nor likes. It recognizes views and time. Basically what means is that you'd need a lot of views in a relatively short amount of time in order for your story to be either Featured or put in the HOT column.
But that's just what I've heard.
The easiest thing for you to do is simply appreciate what you do have and continue writing. You'll have a lot less headaches that way.
The more views you get in a shorter amount of time raises your chances of getting featured. It's pretty dumb, but then again, it makes sure that all stories in the Featured box are new and actually popular. However, it does wrongfully favor the people who are already famous over the ones who are not as well known, but not all the time, as we do see people up there that aren't as popular.
I'm not really sure how many views you have to get in what amount of time to be featured, though, and I don't think they completely rule out likes and dislikes either. After all, even if the story gets, say 600 views in an hour, yet over half of the people who read it gave it a thumbs down, it wouldn't really be Feature box material.
That said, hopefully you make it on the Box again in the future, sorry your hard work didn't get the recognition it probably deserves.
i got my story feathered for like twenty minutes on the home page. It was up there at least
