    Nothing to see here

    Peeks head out of rock...

Hi... It's been a little while.

    Checks...

... Okay, it's been a long while. Just shy of 5 years apparently.

I'm not going to try and explain away that absence, but the main reason that I stopped - probably - is that I lost interest in the main storyline of MLP.

So it occurs to me that I am pretty much dead on this site at the moment – this post aims to a) state why this is so, b) state why it’s probably going to continue, and c) why lists are bad for people.

Still Not Dead Yet (a.k.a: What Have I Been Doing)

So... as some people may have noticed, I'm in one of my infamous periods of doing sweet f.a at the moment, so that's a thing.

    100 Follower Special (AMA)

Welcome back to part two of the 100 follower AMA celebration… thing. For the purposes of this blog, the acronym: AMA, now stands for Answering My AMA.

Right… In the order of asking the questions… Let’s get going.

What is your favourite pony/pairing? (Karrakaz)

    100 Follower Special (AMA)

Little bit of explanation before I go any further into this... about half a year or so ago, when I was on about 93 watchers, I said to myself... Cynical, you pessimistic and sarcastic person, why not make a special post for reaching the big one-double-oh? To which I promptly shot my conscience in the face for using such a long-winded way to say 100.

So it occurs to me that I am pretty much dead on this site at the moment – this post aims to a) state why this is so, b) state why it’s probably going to continue, and c) why lists are bad for people.

Let’s start with the first point, shall we? Or at least… a bit of background: the last thing I added to this site was in October 2014 – this being another prompt to my conglomeration that is Singular Entities (look in my Stories if you want to find it). Before that, it was Limited in August, and before that, Go Away in June. It’s pretty safe to say that I did not write that much during the latter half of last year. Part of that was because it was Summer and I got into the habit of not writing, and part of that was because I kinda lost a lot of interest around that time.

I’m not too sure about the individual reasons for that myself, but I can probably attribute it to the general line: “I could write some more… or I could play games, or code, or watch YouTube.” It mainly just boiled down to the fact that I never really felt possessed enough to write more – which did change in November actually. I entered into NaNoWriMo in 2014 to try and clear my mind a bit – get some actual fiction written, etc. etc. And it was after one of those sessions that I opened up another chapter of Limited and got down to a not insubstantial amount of work (to the degree of me writing past a block into an area which I could easily continue at another time).

I didn’t complete NaNoWriMo by the way… there was something about my USB drive committing seppuku a week into the month that makes you not write for a while. That’s probably what killed a lot of my productivity in recent-ish weeks considering I found myself back in the same block as before on the chapter with only a sentence or so being remembered.

The second point is a bit more up-in-the-air to be honest… it’s more of me just thinking I’ll procrastinate on writing as usual and estimating accordingly, but I really doubt I’d get much writing done even if I wanted to as my time is a lot more full than it was last year whilst at Uni, considering that this year I’ve discovered the joys of fencing, board games, and Dungeons and Dragons. There’s also the part where I am actually doing coursework occasionally and that I have to keep myself sane somehow (read: YouTube). I really don’t think my motivation to churn through a writer’s block will surmount other items patiently waiting in line.

The third and final point also might have a place in this explanation of sorts. Generally, when people have a lot of things to do, they make a list of said things in their heads and prioritise them. You have the important things near the top – so coursework, financial crackdowns, etc. And then you have all the personal things towards the bottom – the things that you don’t really need, don’t really gain you much, and cost an amount of time you’re not willing to spend when there are more important items to be considered, even if those items are taking a break on YouTube every-so-often.

… I guess, what I’m saying is… I’m lazy. It’s probably not going to change. And why the hell are people still following me and adding things that, by all rights, should never have been allowed to see the light of day in the first place, to their favourites?

Why? It's simple. Because we like them. We think that they're good stories. You sir are a good writer.

Ah, fencing. It's been awhile since I last took up a blade. What blade do you fence with?

2867457 Currently a mixture of épée and foil (favouring épée)

2867774 Épée was always my favorite. I was never quick enough for the foil, plus it had too many rules to keep track of.
