Deleting Stories? · 4:27pm Mar 4th, 2015

Over the past few months I've fallen out of love with a couple of my stories. I've even made them their own section on my page called, "Stories that could have been a lot better."

I'm thinking of deleting them and I highly doubt they'd be missed. My only hesitation is whether or not this is a common practice on this site, or if users are supposed to stand next to their work--all of their work, no matter if it didn't turn out so well.

Also, what the hell happened to Black Jezus? His account's just gone. :fluttershyouch:

I'd argue against it.

Even if they're an 'old shame' for you, just deleting a story —especially already finished ones, is quite the slap in the face for anybody that DID like what they saw.

If you're feeling unappreciated, try adding your stuff to more groups instead; I noticed you only tend to do that to one or two. I know it might seem silly or embarrassing to beat yourself on the chest like that, but it really helps readers actually find your stories.

2848935 Ditto, which is why I did standalone re-writes of some of my horrible-IMO works. And to answer your question about Black Jezus, I dunno either.

2848935 That's a good answer. I didn't really look at it that way. That small minority that actually did like the stories. I'll more than likely hang onto them... bury them, or something. I think it was more the subject matter than the writing that detracted people. (In some cases, for good reasons.)

I don't feel too unappreciated, given the amount of views I get. I just don't believe I write about the most interesting of things to grab prospective readers. Although I might slowly add some of my stuff to more groups. Not forty at once or something.

Thanks for giving me your opinion!

Your stories, your art, your call.
Even if deleting them might be frowned upon, you still have the right to do with your stories what you will.

Actually, I know why Black Jezus was permabanned.

Remember his story about Rarity's Yoga Pants? You can find it unedited here. Turns out, this was also how the majority of the rest of his stories were as well.
