To prove that I am actually working on Of Horses And Whorses, here is a sneak peek at the next chapter.
Be advised that it contains a spoiler for a major plot point, so read it at your own risk.
After telling Celestia and Luna your story so far, which included the story of how you came to be Zayna's owner, the two of them are giving you sympathetic looks.
"When Discord was defeated, all traces of his magic were reversed," Celestia says. "However, it would seem as though you and Zayna are the exception. Luna and I have a theory as to why you are still here, but it might seem a little bit... strange."
You shrug. "After everything I've seen here, Princess, 'strange' is hardly something I'm not familiar with."
Celestia chuckles. "Glad to hear it," she replies. "Now, our theory is this: Discord was using his chaos magic to cause various amounts of trouble in Equestria — dancing buffalo, chocolate rain from cotton candy clouds, rabbits that looked more like deer, and so forth." She pauses for a moment to register the look of dumbfounded wonder on your face. "Small spells like those don't require much magic to case, hence why all of them were reversed when he was sealed in stone by Twilight and her friends."
"But using a summoning spell on individuals from another world entirely?" Luna continues. "Now that is something that requires a great deal of magic to cast. We can only guess that Discord summoned you here as a last resort, hoping that your presence in Equestria would continue to cause chaos while he was imprisoned."
"Hmm." you tap your chin. "Well, given all that's happened to us since our arrival, I think he was right." You fold your arms. "The question now, though, is what happens next?"
Luna and Celestia exchange a look with each other.
"Luna and myself are powerful entities in our own right," Celestia says. "But together, the two of us would have enough magic to send you back to your rightful place."
Your eyes light up at this statement and you let out a small cheer, throwing your arms around Zayna's neck. "Did you hear that, Zayna?" you ask. "We can go home!"
"I did hear it, Master." Zayna nuzzles you. "I'm not saying I haven't grown to enjoy my time here, but I'll be glad to get home."
Luna coughs, distracting your joy. "Therein lies the problem." she taps her forehooves together nervously. "Even with our combined powers... we would only be able to send one of you back."
Your face falls as Luna speaks those words, while Zayna's ears flop down mournfully. You look at her, and then to the Princesses a few times before you close your eyes and look at the ground.
"Send me." you sigh. "Let Zayna stay here, and send me back."
...?
So they need to send them both at once?
They can't just send one now and the other in a few days?
Misspelled cast for case. Lol just kidding, well not really, but.... Yeah anyways.
It always confuses us when this type of "only one can go" plot point is used, here's to hoping you have a good reason other than "it takes too much power" up your sleeve....
