    Prereadists

It seems as if I've lost a couple of prereaders! It's almost like I can't just disappear for months on end without people losing interest in whatever it is I do. Shameful! If you too would like to follow in their footsteps and eventually wander off in disgust, let me know!

The following things are difficult and/or frustrating at this general time in my life

    1. Writing
    2. Buying a house
    3. Working through the entirety of Friday afternoon
    4. Keeping the dinosaur happy in the springtime. Why does typing anger him so?

    Pre-reader(s) wanted

I am trying to write again! It's difficult, for a few reasons. One is time, a second is the seething hatred I develop for any of my work that's more than a day or two old. Together, these make for an endless discard and/or rewrite cycle on any project I attempt. In an attempt to break out, I'm trying something new and awful: chapters.

    More stats thoughts

It's probably a symptom of my profession that I tend to go nuts with datasets. Either that, or I ended up where I did because of the existing predilection. Whatever - there's a chicken and an egg, and as long as they're both accounted for it doesn't matter which one killed Colonel Mustard in the library.

    Minor chart thing update

Fixed an issue where the script would take its ball and go home when there was no data yet on brand new stories.
Fixed a potential thread lock when the user's system date is in the past.
Fixed an issue where data for the current day was not displayed.
Modified favorites accumulation timeline to take into account the listed total when it's greater than the number of favorite events received.

Now, we all know how this goes. I get four or five, maybe as many as seven chapters out. I have everything set up, and it's time to throw the switch on all the exciting parts of everything ever. I'll have developed a real live readership genuinely interested in reading updates. Just then, I lose interest and you never hear from me again. I am absolutely going to do that.

Anyway, the theory is that with some reader engagement and the effect of having things 'out', where I can't just go scrap them and start over, I might be able to, you know, get to that sweet spot for abandonment.

So, here's the deal: I've written a chapter. It would be nice to have it read by a person or three with an eye for all the usual stuff (technical and other!), because the last time I published a thing all the usual stuff was wrong. It would be even nicer if that same person or three applied that same eye to all the other chapters I'll write before I see something shiny and wander off. If you're reading this, you probably have questionable taste an eye for at least some of the usual stuff, right?

Maybe you want to know something about the story before you sign on for something like that! Okay: It's a sequel to Two Pair, and it is basically exactly the same except without humor or shipping or time travel.

If you are interested in serving in this capacity, leave a comment, or send a private message. In the unlikely event that more than four or so are game, I will coldheartedly reject any other inquiries and update this post to reflect my cruelty.

Update: Four test subjects have been acquired. Since, at a basic level, I lack the ability to recognize or acknowledge more than that number of unique perspectives, accepting any more pre-readers would result in catastrophic mental breakdown.

So it has... what? Spaces with occasional paragraph breaks? Shining Armor and a bottle of Mad Diamond Dog 20/20?

If you're still looking for people, I'd be happy to help out. No promises on timeliness though, since real life can be a pain sometimes.

Hurrah for writing again!

I'm perpetually overcommitted, but if you sling me a link I'll see what I can do.

Significant glances and subversive grammatical experiments. Nobody got that this was really the heart of the first story, so I'm stripping out the distractions.

I'll preread! I enjoy doing it! It's honestly quite disturbing. I preread for a few other people and they haven't told me to stop yet, so I must be doing something right.

This is rather late, but if at any point you find yourself in need of a pre-reader again, please do not hesitate to contact me. It would be a pleasure to work with such a fantastic author.

What's the proper emote for 'self-consciously flattered'? I'll go with :derpytongue2:
I appreciate the kind words. I'll be sure to keep you in mind in the event that spots need filling.
