DONE! · 3:09pm Jan 3rd, 2015
Well, despite feeling a bit lousy, I get to be a little more chipper today.
I'm done with the transplant! As I mentioned in my last blog, by all medical standards, I was officially ready to go home. My stem cells have officially grafted to the bone marrow, which means they'll start working on their own and rebuilding my immune system bit by bit on their own. I just need to take some time to recover.
The catheter was taken out (which wasn't pleasant, but you learn to deal) and I was just discharged yesterday evening. I finally got to sleep in my own (new) bed, which felt great, but I did wake up at the obnoxious hospital time of 6:30am... meh, shit happens. My chest is still really tender where they took the catheter out— if you don't know why, basically let's just say it's not only where the catheter came OUT that's sore, it's where it was under the skin that hurts a bunch, too, so right now, I'm just laying low.
I'm supposed to have a nurse come and assess how I am post-hospital stay later, but whatever. That should be easy enough as long as I don't smash into anything.
Anyway, thanks to all of you that sent me well-wishes during that horrible ordeal. Now that I'm home, I'm gonna take a chill pill until I feel ready enough to REALLY get back on my feet. Editing and writing should follow.
Congratulations.
Oh, new bed too, nice.
