Update incoming :D · 12:51am Dec 26th, 2014
So... After twenty pages (just for Applejack and Pinkie Pie's saucy date) and a few more for good measure, I'm nearing completion... Galens cookout will be the sole subject of the next chapter which will be much quicker to get written :b
One thing I thought I should address is the inclusion and use of telephones in this chapter. Even though I've never seen them used in the show and mail is still a major mode of communication, telegraphs exist and are used in the show. With that being said, the jump in technology between a telegraph and a phone isn't very extreme. The only thing inhibiting its large-scale implementation would be developing the proper infrastructure and the cost of getting a line installed and the phone itself.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm fairly certain that I've seen (at least the outlines/silhouettes of them on occasion) and feel comfortable including them in my story. If you think it's too much, then let's agree to disagree on that and move on.
Here's someone's take on the tech:

Personally, I wouldn't see it too far out there for really old-fashioned phones to be a thing, but as a recent thing, not widely adopted into use yet.

I was thinking more along the lines of bell and stalk phones for the most part...

Exactly Luckily for us, Pinkie's fekking loaded from her lucrative backing exploits (after following the advice of the Cakes and getting her recipes copyrighted and putting them up for auction to the restaurants who most want them as well as offering her counseling services to restaurants who are willing to pay a price )...
Besides... How do you think she's about to have unlimited party works? She has to get the bits from somewhere...

You could reference Slice of Pony Life (One of my favorite pony comics!) and state that Pinkie and her family are independantly wealthy because of Rock Molasses.

I always thought of her family being closer to upper-middle class with occasional windfalls of rare gems that would let them take unexpected holidays to enjoy their fortune while setting a bit back for a rainy day. Plus, Pinkie entering baking contests would make a lot of sense and her unique recipes would draw a lot of attention, especially from those restaurants who are always seeking an edge up on their competition. As it is right now, Pinkie has so much money that she could open up her own bakery and catering service with money to spare for a minimum of three employees and could run said business for a year at a zero net gain before she even could see the bottom of her pile of bits...
Also, I loved those comics as well

Hey, whatever works for you. :)
I always thought Rock farming is a boring but incrediblly lucrative profession, myself, something unique to earth ponies, literally growing minerals with their magic. Magical molasses was just hillarious. :)

I know XD such a silly idea... I absolutely loved the art style of those comics though...

Yeah, and the writing was believably like the shows.
