Now that I'm finally caught up with the show, and as I go over Dominion of the Night to finish up its recap, I'm taking the time to tweak a few details to help the story fall in line with canon a bit better. One of these turned into a small retcon, so I figured I'd make a note of it here (even though it's not a big shift for the story):
Tiny spoiler for Chapter Seven: Broken Promise:
Near the end of the chapter, Star Swirl has a moment where he is reminded of his younger days while speaking with Celestia. The event he speaks of originally took place in the gardens of Canterlot castle, but since that wouldn't actually exist in his younger days, this was updated to not be specific.
This was originally going to be an important piece of information as there was a flashback in the story for how this took place and why it's important to Star Swirl's and Celestia's relationship. But I figure there's already plenty of other moments that will do this just as well, so this edited chunk really won't be necessary.
Now at this point, DotN has aged a bit, and because of when it was written the time and placement of a few of the characters were hard to pinpoint. (To give you an idea, Starfall was written during season 1 and DotN began right around season 2's start.) Some things like the change above were easy enough to do without causing many issues... others, however, would require too much work.
One of these is the Castle of the Two Sisters, which didn't exist when DotN was written... However, though I won't be working to fit it in to the first part, it actually will sorta/kinda fit into the story and will even play a part in DotN II's prologue. I'm hoping with putting it front and center will help clear up any questions of its absence.
