Happy holidays to all of you.
Christmas isn't far away and I thought, while we don't have chapter this week, why not talk about a few things I deleted from Journey?
Remember the snow rabbit in the mountains? When I created the scene in my notes I wanted that Thiemo meets Angel Bunny later. If you remember what happened to the snow bunny, than you can guess what would have happened to Angel. Thiemo would get his rabbit stew. But two things made me delete that. First, Angel gets punished by nearly every human ever showing up in Equestria. Seems to be like a rule that it has to happen. Like that the human has to adopt Scootaloo, has to fall in love with one of the mane six etc... The second reason was, that there will be enough bad blood at it is. It would be a bit over the top.
I also totally deleted Gilda. I actually like griffons, even if Thiemo is hating (most of) them. I planned to add here at Dragmire along with Trixie but decided against it. To much with not enough time to tell everything properly. While Journey is a long story, I want to keep the acts short. My goal is always 3000 to 5000 words per act and around 2000 for a intermission. Crossed both lines a few times by now. I set myself these rules because I know from experience that 10000 and more chapters are tiring.
I also introduced a griffon a short while back who will be important later on for Thiemo personally. Said griffon is a tribute to my father, who was very ill (we all thought he would die) at the time I created the character. I even named him after him, because my father name ft so well. I also added a few character traits from him and so on.
I also shortened the Canterlot arc drastically. I first planned to let them live in the city for a whole complete act before going to the castle the first time. But I was out of ideas what they could do in that time. Thiemo, not able to turn into a pony anymore, would have to hide in their hideout. That would have left Amy and Auralia, but the filly still hated the changeling and Amy didn't really care about her at the time. So bonding? To early. That the reason I deleted that.
