Windows Update

As some of you may have heard, the Windows 10 October Update has a very big flaw.

I got to experience it.

I lost a lot of data and while I have backups, they are a month old or even more. I'll need a week
to work on the next chapter of Journey, again. Sorry folks, but this time, blame Microsoft...

I normally use dropbox and gdrive, but since I sold one of my notebooks I work only on my PC and most of the stuff I work on is on the desktop. I only drop things in the cloud if I plan to work on them later...

Also, usually a Windows error like this wouldn't bother me. I have all my files on separate harddrives. But with Windows deleting files from the personal folders at random...

used to use Dropbox, only use it today for fimfic library storage and cross-device sync
with Gdrive i have over 300GB storage space (some bonuses from new phones) where i sync all my normal docs+system image for emergencies.
while not a backup, it still gives me a peace of mind. google has history option so i can "undelete" files.

as for your case, Microsoft has options to recover the files... not all had been deleted completely

are you still working on the story? it's one of the best things I've ever read (including professionally published books) and it would be incredibly sad for it to end with so many secrets left unsolved. I didn't want to push since you said you needed the last brake, but I know how you like comments too ;)
