Hey everyone, I have a question that I need answered. See I have been trying to get more writing done but it seems that no matter what I do, I keep hitting a dead end. It has always been my intention to give everything I have and put it into my writing, however I'm starting to think making a sequel for 'Buck My Life' was a bad decision since it feels like I've been writing nothing but garbage and I hate posting any less than my best. In fact I have recently felt so bad about my first two fanfics that I have been thinking of removing them so I can rewrite their story into something decent. So my question is, would you be alright with me taking a break from 'Change My Life' and proceeding to remake 'The Legend of a Shadowmare'?
It's your choice what you want to update. I'm kinda curious what you had in mind for Change My Life such that you sound like you almost regret doing it. Did it just generate Writer's Block, or is the setting too limiting?
Writing against your wellspring is counterproductive. Forcing yourself write when your motivation continually pulled you towards something else is just going to leave you feeling like what you did write is far from your regular standards. If your ideas are leaning away from Change My Life for the moment, let them flow where they want to and clear up your headspace. When you get back to it, you might find your ideas even better than what you originally planned.
2658429 I wouldn't say its writers block exactly. The ideas are all there but the execution is sloppy at best. It's more of a problem where I have all the pieces of the story and dont know how to fit them together properly. Instead of a nice smooth flow the whole thing feels like a thirteen year old trying to drive the first time by stomping on the gas then immediately hitting the brake with no idea how to shift it into gear, so by the time I finish a chapter I feel nauseous.
2658460 Alright I get that, but in order to work on the new story, I would have to unpublish the original. Knowing that I am not sure if it would be right because there are still people who have liked it as it is and if it is removed they may feel bad. I just dont want to upset anyone who has enjoyed my work because they are the ones who have given me the drive to go on. Every view, like, and favorite is important to me, you know?
2658554 Hey, I can totally get that. But on the other hand, you're also making it better, using the skills that have improved since then to make an even better story for them. While some might not like it because it's different and they don't like different, you might still make the previous version available on Google Docs or something.
2658933 That's true. I guess I just have trouble when it comes to the possibility of disappointing people. I've been told many times that you can't please everyone, but it's a force of habit for me since everyone around me in my life has always expected perfection.
