    Letter of Destiny, advanced concept

Recently, a friend of mine became fascinated with my book series Maledictum Insania and read all of them through pretty quickly. He became particularly curious what my alternative storyline would have been if I had ended up choosing the ending Letter of Destiny from the first book as the base for the rest of the story. Eventually, he got me thinking about this series again which I considered done

    The end is coming

After about 7 years of writing, it is finally happening. The Maledictum Insania series is almost completed.
I am on the last few chapters of the final book. Very soon, this biggest story I have ever written will be concluded.
It is true what they say. You look towards the end of your major projects with both a laughing and a crying eye.

    Obsidian's Theme Songs

What is this? A new blog post! Oh my gosh! Jokes aside, I wasn't planning to make another blog post ever again. But perhaps there is still someone out there who enjoys reading this.

    Guess I finally managed it...

I noticed I am no longer getting comments and hardly any views on new chapters at all. I guess I finally managed to bore all my fans away due to my slow update speed. I am eternally sorry for this. My books never were all that successful to begin with and now I seem to have reached the point where I'm not even writing for anyone but my two pre-readers anymore.

Maledictum Insania nominated for The Golden Dumpster Award 2014 · 11:43pm Oct 13th, 2014

After once again sighing over the ever-shrinking interest in my work, I searched around on the internet if anyone was even talking about my books. What I then discovered shocked me deeply. On this page here, my first book was nominated for the Golden Dumpster Award 2014.

To explain why this upsets me so, the Golden Dumpster is given to the best of the worst fanfics in excistence. The page itself says that this should be seen as an accomplishment, but quite honestly, it rips my heart out to see this. I honestly put a ton of effort into that story and worked on the plot and characters for ages. I tried so hard to make this a really, really good story. Seing that people think so lowly of my work is just wrecking me.

I guess that is another very clear indicator that my time as a fanfic author is pretty much done. I don't even see the point in finishing the last book, because I am fairly certain no one will even care to finish it. But still... I guess I will keep writing, just so I can be done with it and get it out of my head.

I don't know what I did wrong. I tried really hard to make something that would be remembered as a great piece of work that enriched the fandom. Instead, I get a Golden Dumpster... Screw this all.

Seriously?! Whats wrong with this world? So much rubbish out there gets tons of undeserved credit and Maledictum Insania is best of the worst?! I don't get it :twilightoops: I stumbled upon MI accidentally and loved it. Can't wait for the third one to finish as I prefer to read complete stories.

2531116 Glad to hear at least a single positive voice...

Well as I think about it, this nomination can draw attention to MI. Some people may even be captivated enough to read until the end! Any PR is good PR... :pinkiecrazy:

Not going to lie, thats fucked up that even exists as an award, I FUCKING hate opinion based awards. Anyway I'm certain its just a bunch of pricks that just didn't like your story, because I know for a fact that your story isn't the worst of the worst, there are so many stories deserving that award and yours just isn't one.

You see, the problem is that most people thinks:

I don't like it = It has to be bad

Which obviously is not true, but that's the Internet. Someone didn't like the story and nominated it. Big deal, I bet they are not internationally recognized experts in literature or anything.

I liked your story and think it is good, I recommended it, and a friend of mine liked it too. It has 196 likes for a reason.

Worst waste of potential plot? How? HOW?!?! There's no way your fic even contains waste. A tiny amount at worst but not so much to say you can't follow the plot of the story because there isn't one.

No... Just no. Your fic has done well at developing plots and you fantastically did your one job unlike what that site thinks.

This is how I think this happened and it ended up there on that site. The ones giving out the suggestions of that award likely haven't delved that far into your story. Plus, that seems to be a purely bad award site which to me means they can't judge accurately cause they don't seem to have a way to compare good rates to bad since that site is only based on bad opinions

Anything specific you have in mind when you say that there is a tiny ammount of wasted potential?

2532101 Actually from me, no. It's my way of saying there's always a tiny chance no matter small. I myself feel you have NOT wasted anything. I still consider this my number 1 favorite because of the fact is well written and you've got several stories on it.

To think that people would actually nominate this for that...
MI is one of the VERY BEST stories I've ever read, and I don't understand how people see anywhere in here wasted potential... please, continue the story for the sake of the ones actually reading it to the end and recognizing the talent needed to actually construct such a detailed world, along with realistical character personalities. After that whole journey, it would be a crime to just leave the story be and forget about it. I won't claim I'm an unbiased reviewer of that story simply because I like it so much, but it is one of the rare ones that really remained with me and kept me awake at night:pinkiecrazy:
All in all, it is your decision to do what you want with the story, but know that a lot of people like it, and many of those (me included) would never forgive you for not finishing it...
[This may or may not be a poorly hidded threat]
In all seriousness though, the story's good, the plot is good, well timed plausible and more, characters are believable and well explored, and I could go on for a while. Cheer up. You are a good writer and you have people that support you and believe in you and (possibly also in my case) love you. ;) Don't let a few illiterate assholes bring you down this far. Instead focus on the positive feedback of your readers, me included.
Sorry because I can't stop when I set on writing something, and remember: WE BELIEVE IN YOU.

I would hug you over the internet if I could...:yay:

I will keep writing until this story is finished. After that, we will see. My life is just a mess right now with no future in sight. But to you and everyone else supporting me, thank you a lot for the nice words.

Also, may I ask if you are a boy or girl? I can not exactly tell by your name and avatar. I am asking because you said you love me (wether that was meant literal or not, I feel the need to establish that I am heterosexual at this point.)

2532798 hence the awkwardness ensues. I'm a nice guy, and btw, love you was meant a bit differently than the usual implications of the word:)
Cheer up!

2535868
I guessed as much. Sorry I just needed to pull this off. :rainbowwild:

2536447 k then:twilightsheepish: hope you're not dissapointed:twilightsheepish:

2536470 Well no, I wasn't expecting anything in the first place. :derpytongue2:

2536476 well then, this conversation is just getting awkward now...
hope it cheered you up a bit ;)

This is messed up. I can't believe they would say this is one of the worst stories. :facehoof: It's not, I think it's been well planned out and professionally written masterpiece. I almost stopped reading it when Princess Luna started cannibalizing on MI:TC but I didn't stop there, I just kept on reading and thought it's been brilliant all up to now.

I think it's just a matter of taste, some people like it and some don't. Us followers, enjoy it and looking forward to seeing the overall conclusion, mate. I decided to help beta read because I've really enjoyed reading your work.

Worst Waste of Potential Plot?! That's horses:yay:t!! I read Maledictum Insania two years ago and I couldn't find any flaws in the story!

Ugh, that's one of the things I hate about the internet; nearly everyone thinks their opinion is superior and whatever they don't like is bad. It just drives me crazy!

Don't listen to those guys, Nero. Those things are just stupid opinion-based awards. Opinions are weak and worthless unless they are backed up with concrete evidence and those awards don't have any. So some joyless little s:yay: with the analytical capacity of a marble starts rolling his head back and forth along a keyboard declaring what he says is fact with nothing to back it up. Screw him! He's not worth acknowledging. It's just some random guy rambling about something he didn't like.

The Maledictum Insania series is a gem you rarely find on FiMFiction! You put real honest-to-God effort into your work and it really shows! Everything in the story ties together and makes sense, there is some really good character development, OC's are fleshed out and interesting, and you manage to draw in the reader with suspense and keep them guessing. You have 109 people following you for a reason and I am happy to be one of them. I have been enjoying the series ever since I discovered it two years ago and while I may not have the time to leave a comment like I used to, I still take time out of my busy schedule to read and support it.

Keep up the good work Nero! Don't let those jerks get you down! :pinkiehappy:

Thanks. MI3 will definitely be finished, but after that I stil don't think I will write anything anymore. My work just doesnt get the recognition it, at least in my personal opinion, deserves. Even if I started writing good one-shots now and they get famous, that would only infuriate me because something so small and simple gets all the glory while my years of effort are left in the dust.
