Zecora had warned about giving Spike, the Dragon any Material Posessions and explained in no uncertain terms exactly why.
There had also been the one incident when Spike had started to hord things in a pile, only after Rarity showed him the Ruby he had given him, he was able to come to his senses and return to his old self.

Spike himself did not think of either of these incidents as pleasent occasions he liked to ponder, yet knew he had to guard himself, not to repeat what had happened before. In part for fear of hurting firstly Rarity and secondly Twilight Sparkle.

At a later date, Tirek had destroyed the home Twilight and Spike had shared with the pet Owl Owlicious.
Thankfully, a new home was forthcoming, in the new Castle of Ponyville. Like all castles, there is a library where the royal collection is available.
All the books saved from the old library had also been moved to the new location.

Just a while back, Twilight had been kind enough to make room for a new wing for Comics. Just like in the StarSwirl Wing, only the best are there.
So long as the books belong to the library, we believe we are safe from the curse of Greed Dragons are plagued by.

Twilight is collecting Comics from far and wide, in the facion of any Royal castle.
Spike is allowed to go to the wing, every now and then, when he has time of his own enough to enjoy a good Comic.

Apparently, spike has realise, he had a love for Comics, there is something to them.
If it was the light read, or the adventures they commonly did contain, but they are apparently great for a young dragon.
