Worst Month of My Life. Yet.

to say it bluntly, the last weeks were completely f'd up for me...

I have no idea idea how I accumulated that much bad karma. But it all started not that long ago, when my (and my flat-mate's) dishwasher broke.

Well, that's not that big of a deal. Even that the old dishwasher wasn't picked up by the delivery crew of the new dishwasher last Tuesday. Becuase the online order was somehow messed up. Nothing we couldn't have handled. All in all it just took us a bit longer until the new one was set up, but we go it to work.

But then, just this last Saturday, right when I head my brother over for his birthday (and few of our friends, of course), the waterpipe right below the kitchen sink broke. Happily flooding the floor with boiling hot water. So we closed the main tap, natuarally, and called our property management's emergency hotline. And they told us somebody will come to take a look at that by Monday. And even though we told them that the water had been running behind the kitchen unit where we had no chance of swiping it up in any way, all we got was "there's nothing that can be done."

So, we tried to have as much fun out of the birthday with our kitchen laid out with towels. But after that, the fun declined rapidly. Because, bg surprise, the water had been running down through the walls over night and started to make kitchen right below ours fall apart. that kitchen's owner yet somehow managed to get somebody from property management to come by on a sunday to have a look at it. Well, no wonder, he came up to my flat to see what happened. My biggest surprise was that he told me that "the water was still running." Nobody of the eight people present the day before had heard any sign of it, but the guy lying below my sink tells me, it was still dripping. With the main tap closed. I don't even want to say he made this up, but fact is, as far as I know, bobody noticed it and all I have is his word. Because he immediately got to work and closed down the pipe.

But best of all, he accused my flat-mate and me of being wantonly negligent about this.

Which means all this could lead to some ugly legal trouble in the time to come.

And, best of all, he wasn't too happy about the present state of chaos our flat was in after weeks without a dishwasher, a broken pipe and a birthday party taking place.

Oh, and if all that wasn't enough, just when I (and my brother, who was kind enough to take an hour-long trip to come by in the evening) was cleaning up that mess, my washing machine started leaking. And all I wanted was to wash the towels we had used to swipe up the water. Well, most likely it's just the lint filter. But I couldn't onfirm that, because cleaning that out is unfortunately connected to a lot of spilled water. As if we hadn't had enough of that. And any towel I could have used to swipe that up were in the washing machine...

So, what does all this mean for you?

Not much, except that my time for writing will most likely dwindle down to zero once again. Maybe not, but don't expect too much - or rather, even less - in the near future.

What does it mean for us?

Well, best case, we find some agreeable people to talk to at property management and most, if not even all of the damage will be covered by insurance.

Worst case, they insist everything was out fault, kick us out and sue us for everything we have, and the insurance takes that as a basis to not give us a single cent.

To be honest, I expect it to end up somewhere inbetween. But in any case, the next weeks and month will certainly happen to be quite interesting.

Well, shit. That's one hell of a bad situation you're in, I wouldn't wish that on anybody. I hope everything works out for the best, although I know as well as anyone that life's a bitch sometimes. Good luck and stay strong.

Sorry for taking so long to respond. But I still wanted to thank you for the kind words :).

But things are finally clearng up and as it seems, we got away with a black eye. After a first, quick inspections, there are no significant damages, maybe even none at all. at least in our kitchen. Our neighbor's is a different story though...

On the other hand, there still hasn't been anything on possible legal stuff coming our way, so I wouldn't call it done yet.

Unfortunately, I'm still getting far less writing done than I'd wanted to. So it could take a while for the nxt chapter to pop up. But I promise it will come .
