    Letter of Destiny, advanced concept

Recently, a friend of mine became fascinated with my book series Maledictum Insania and read all of them through pretty quickly. He became particularly curious what my alternative storyline would have been if I had ended up choosing the ending Letter of Destiny from the first book as the base for the rest of the story. Eventually, he got me thinking about this series again which I considered done

    The end is coming

After about 7 years of writing, it is finally happening. The Maledictum Insania series is almost completed.
I am on the last few chapters of the final book. Very soon, this biggest story I have ever written will be concluded.
It is true what they say. You look towards the end of your major projects with both a laughing and a crying eye.

    Guess I finally managed it...

I noticed I am no longer getting comments and hardly any views on new chapters at all. I guess I finally managed to bore all my fans away due to my slow update speed. I am eternally sorry for this. My books never were all that successful to begin with and now I seem to have reached the point where I'm not even writing for anyone but my two pre-readers anymore.

A little treat for my loyal fans · 9:52am Sep 19th, 2014

The following piece is not to be taken as canon within my stories. It is solely a fantasy that keeps popping up and I thought you might like to read. Once you are done, I strongly invite you to listen to this while imagining the scene again. Gets even me teary-eyed.

As soon as he saw the blade coming out of his chest, he realized it was over. With his life being drained away and feeling as the demons and the reaper curse loosened their grips on him, he regained control, just long enough to say two final words with a smile on his face.

"Thank you."

Immediately after, he started falling. His body hit the ground, but he himself kept falling. Deeper and deeper into the black. Endlessly he fell into the nothingness. Aeons passed in seconds while seconds took aeons to pass. Having lost any sense of time and space, he was clueless for how long he had been falling, nearly unconscious and incapable of thinking of anything.

But suddenly, he noticed a beam of light shining on him from below. Was he coming close to the ground? As he pondered upon this thought, he began to realize something. He was no longer falling, or had he never been in the first place? He gained the impression to truly be slowly rising. More and more beams of light appeared around him, until he finally reached his destination.

With wide eyes, he stared in awe at the scenery before him. A floating stairway made of a bright, unknown material. Too pure and too flawless to even be considered white marble. The stairway was floating in a realm of brightness, light and warmth, leading up to a massive golden gateway. As it opened, the brightness became so intense, he could no longer keep his eyes open. But mere moments later, he adjusted to the light and realized that his wounds had been healed. All traces of the burdens he carried around throughout his life had disappeared from his body, as well as his wings and horn.

The unknown force which kept him afloat now let go of him, gently placing him down on his hooves at the very bottom of the stairway. His focus remained at the open path before him as two black ponies stepped to the very border of the gateway. Two black ponies he very well remembered from days long gone. The stun and disbelieve was clearly written on his face.

"Mother? Father?"

The two black ponies smiled warmly at their son. No words were given in response. They were just standing and waiting, silently inviting him to join them.

Driven by instinct and the desire to be reunited with the ponies who raised him, he started to slowly walk up the stairs, not realizing that every step changed him. The closer he got to the gate, the more his body shrank in size, as well as his mane and tail getting ever shorter. He just kept walking in disbelieve, eyes and mouth open. When he finally reached his parents, he still had to look at them from below, as his body had been returned to that of a foal.

His parents were still silent, but smiling full of warmth and pride. They embraced their little colt while he embraced them back, the happiness finally able to reach and fill him.

The black mare and stallion turned around, slowly starting to walk back to where they came from. The colt followed them slowly, but stopped after just a few steps. His gaze returned to the path behind him. Far off in the distance, he saw four colorful mares weeping over the lifeless body of a black stallion.

The little colt gazed for mere moments. He observed the world and friends he left behind. But as he watched the yellow pegasus mare wearing his cloak and embracing his mortal remains, a smile grew on his face. After all that had happened, he would be able to keep his final promise. One day, she and he would be reunited, in a world far away from the one she was still living in.

The black colt raised his right front leg and waved all of them goodbye. Then he slowly turned around, smiled happily and ran towards his parents, the golden gate slowly closing behind him.

Wow, that's quite the treat for sure. Very nice to see his last bit of perspective even after he dies.

This was gorgeous. It fills me with a fuzzy and warm feeling, knowing that there's a grain of good in his death. I still kinda miss him too, so it was nice with a reunion :)

Dayum. It's nice to have some of his point of view tho:)
Love this.

I know what you mean. I really miss this character, too.

I'm unable listen to music due to my low data. But the scene felt both sad and happy.
