Terrestrial Bestiality VS Extraterrestrial Bestiality. · 9:52pm Sep 2nd, 2014
First of all, yes, I promised more writing, but living conditions have become wildly uncomfortable of late, and I don't trust myself to be able to write anything of decent quality without some semblance of comfort. Too much of a distraction just wishing I could be somewhere else, so I have put off writing projects for now. I should be able to write again within the week though, fortune willing.
I did have a little topic I wanted to discuss here though. The word "bestiality" gets tossed around a lot at a fandom like "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (though it's far from the first or only fandom to come under fire in this way), but over the years I've come to realize that the entire premise of bestiality, having sex with non-human organisms, has never really been held against sci-fi fandoms like Star Trek or Star Wars, where races like Klingons and Twi'lek seem to be fair game for sex-play without anybody batting an eyelash. Technically a Twi'lek is about as non-human as a character from "Sonic the Hedgehog". Both are decidedly non-human from their respective lores, but both are similarly "anthromorphic" in the sense that they are non-human species' with a great many human aspects.
So why is one generally accepted while the other is not? It makes no logical sense.
I've finally reached the conclusion that it has nothing to do with logic or sense, it's an instinctual gut reaction. The only difference between a Klingon and Sonic the Hedgehog is that Sonic is patterned after an identifiable Terrestrial species, the hedgehog. Meanwhile Klingons, despite being non-human, are entirely made up, and don't trigger people's instinctual revulsion towards real-world bestiality. There's no association binding Klingons to "animals", while Sonic is openly referred to as a Hedgehog, and so he is immediately and entirely associated with a real-world animal, despite that all of his behaviors and even his physical stature are pretty much entirely human in nature (maybe a midget human, but he's still very much human shaped and his behaviors are completely human).
Ponies are sort of different from this in that they have the physical stature of their namesakes, and even some of their behaviors, but their completely human intelligence and, most importantly, sentience is what makes them attractive even to people who aren't into real-world ponies or bestiality as a concept. Most people aren't attracted to them because they're ponies, they're attracted to them in spite of that, because they hardly even associate them with real-world "ponies" to begin with. They're more like an alien species along the lines of Klingons or Twi'lek's, just with a real-world inspiration.
In the end, if someone tries to accuse you of wanting to **** ponies because you like MLP characters, just keep in mind that they're wrong, and that their statement is not based on any kind of logic or sense. It's a guttural instinct with no driving force behind it besides a fundamental misunderstanding of both you and the fandom as a whole. So don't let it make you upset or nervous about being an MLP fan. Live and let live, and be proud to be who you are.
Agreed.
While I do think there is a smidge of zoophilia in the attraction to MLP characters (even if it is only 0.0001%), the other 99.9999% of the attraction is based on the intellectual facets of the characters, their inherent 'humanness' displayed in the show, despite their bodies.
I think people spend too much time hung up on what they're attracted to, rather than just letting things be and accepting themselves. It saves a lot of stress this way.
I always thought literotica was stupid or silly before I read my first few clop fics. Now, I'm writing them. I think it has to do with the fact that it's really easy to get human emotions wrong, but easier to forgive if made of ponies.
