Wait - that was YOU?

But- but Twilight Time is like... mah favorite ep-i-sode!
Why would ya'll SAY stuff like that?

I am curious though, what DID you say? You'd think you'd have video of such a moment available. I'm just curious what the counterpoints against it was.

And if you're going to just directly challenge me, it's best to do so on my user page, not very Diamond Cutters related as some have pointed out. Especially since you already sent the note before. xD

2407048 Surprise! :pinkiecrazy:

I am curious though, what DID you say? You'd think you'd have video of such a moment available. I'm just curious what the counterpoints against it was.

First of all, I didn't record my rant. My mum did, and she prefers to leave everything on Facebook.

And if you want to know why I raged at it, I guess I could list out some of the errors.

Error #1: First off, there's something about Applebloom's potion studies which bug me. What happened between her and Zecora? That's something the episode didn't bother to answer, and made it a massive blunder for the eyes of any knowledgable brony.

Error #2: It's only in this episode that Diamond acknowledges that Twilight is now hot stuff. I mean, Diamond has witnessed Twilight defeat Nightmare Moon and Discord, and seen her save Ponyville from destruction, by wild animals, evil unicorns, or otherwise. Where were you, Diamond?

Error #3: The CMC look far too willingly to take Diamond and Silver to meet Twilight. Maybe they keep forgetting that Diamond has: Blackmailed them, turned Applebloom's cousin against them, and crippled the entire group for pointing out the errors in one of them.

Error #4: Not only did Diamond act like the world's biggest blabber mouth, but she also decides to worm her way into the CMC against their will. I've seen stuck up brats before, but that's just pathetic. One of Diamond's worst performances.

Error #5: Besides Diamond's blank flank in the behind the bush clip, I happened to despise the way Twilight eats like a savage in that restaurant. It was a good reference to Equestria Girls, I will admit, but it's sickening to see a pony eating that messily in a world where ponies have consciences.

Error #6: After noticing that the CMC kicked her from the meetings, Diamond decided to go Makarov on the CMC, turning the entire tables against them. I seriously thought that the others were on the CMC's side. But no, Vladimir Diamond Tiara of MW3 Russia strikes again, it would seem.

Error #7: And this is the big kick in the balls that ruined the episode once and for all. After Twilight disbands the idea and scatters the other children, the CMC can suddenly do their skills like experts?! Da fuck, Polsky? No-one would learn a talent like that in seconds, after everyone's left, and suddenly do it flawlessly.

This episode was horrendous, the chant was grating like nails on a chalkboard, Diamond was horribly out of character (something the series hasn't pulled off yet), the CMC trusted their enemies. And there are many other reasons why this episode should have been banned by Hasbro. If I didn't know any better I'd say this was made by the crappy team who made Dusk's Dawn.

Ah, okay then. I won't ask to view it if it's a sensitive video or anything. At least you seemed to have had normal good natured fun the rest of the event.

And if you want to know why I raged at it, I guess I could list out some of the errors.

I'm all about ponies and seeing different perspectives, helps me better understand something that would otherwise just seem like blind hate to me. Debates and cross examinations are fun!

Error #1: First off, there's something about Applebloom's potion studies which bug me. What happened between her and Zecora? That's something the episode didn't bother to answer, and made it a massive blunder for the eyes of any knowledgable brony.

This bugged me at first, felt like they were pushing away Zecora at first. I don't see her being so busy she can't teach Apple Bloom herself. But then, assuming she's there FOR Sweetie Belle's magic lessons and Twilight, which is shown and implied, to let the other two pick something THEY find of interest and would like to learn more of alongside Sweetie Belle, it makes all but perfect sense since those three are so inseparable. And this, Twilight Time was born.

Apple Bloom being inspired by Zecora's potion making AND seeing it as a way she could one day help introduce chemicals into apples which would eventually lead to GMOs in-ahdotgdsostgoud...
"TELAROS!"
"STAHP!"
"STAHP IT TELAROS!"

*cough*

What I mean to say, it's pretty endearing that her best friend and apparently role model, Zecora, had such a positive influence on Apple Bloom that she'd also want to pursue a more specialized field of potion making to help her already struggling family.

The Scootaloo being adorably lazy but taking a small step into what can lead into pony engineering, like that Cheerie Berry or whatever her name is that flies that helicopter, is a pretty cool prospect.

I saw it more of a basic introduction into helping them gain useful life lesson type skills they can pursue later in life if they wanted. But I can see why you'd be upset. As I mentioned it did come off as pushing Zecora away as being her mentor, but with this basic knowledge, she'd be able to take on an apprenticeship with Zecora later on.

Error #2: It's only in this episode that Diamond acknowledges that Twilight is now hot stuff. I mean, Diamond has witnessed Twilight defeat Nightmare Moon and Discord, and seen her save Ponyville form destruction, by wild animals, evil unicorns, or otherwise. Where were you, Diamond?

Not sure if she's just that badflanked that even Discord didn't affect her, or that Nightmare Moon wore too much eye shadow to be taken seriously, or what, but that one line "I've seen her around" really plays into what recluse Twilight tends to be. But still odd that somepony whose saved your home town and Equestria would come off as "whatever".

Yeah, that felt more like she was being 'too cool' by trying to play it off while around the CMC. But the whole focus on status and her love of princesses really speaks a lot of how girly DT and Silvy can be. Two different worlds the CMC and those Adorabullies live apparently.

Error #3: The CMC look far too willingly to take Diamond and Silver to meet Twilight. Maybe they keep forgetting that Diamond has: Blackmailed them, turned Applebloom's cousin against them, and crippled the entire group for pointing out the errors in one of them.

1) Eh-eh-eh! That was 'DIPLOMACY'. :ajsmug: :rainbowlaugh:

And what she was going to do was basically what they did to everypony else the CMC WILLINGLY and WITHOUT CARE did to everypony else in town despite knowing it was mean. DT by that time had grown the Newspaper into a small empire!
Think of how efficient and keen eyed she was to have selected everypony for each task so meticulously, that was a brilliant episode and she wasn't really a villain, just a tantrum throwing "BUT IF YOU GO I'LL BE RUINED!" type outburst.

Still, I blame Cheerilee more seeing how you'd have to be BLIND not to catch on to the biggest news in Ponyville and SEE what her foals were printing in that paper! :p

Also showed how DT and Silvy likely have different interests and potentially other friends or associates they can hang with besides each other.

2) Babs Seed *chose* to go with DT and SS. She ALSO *chose* to be a bully even when DT wasn't around for the more physical bullying Babs did. Even wanting to see the Float more than see Babs or Silver make fun of something the three awed at. Babs was certainly not a good role model to DT and SS showing off her Manehattan ways of bullying.

3) The Scootaloo thing? That episode was out of character, short of taking One Bad Apple into account. Silver really brought home the point with those Harshwhinny lies and flicking her 'useless' wings. Topped off with DT's never getting her flag carrying carrier off the ground either just all culminated to showing Scoots what she never really put much mind into before. That episode went deeper than just the flag competition.

Much like the Foal Free Press, DT's Lock-On ability for sure-fire hits did cause Scootaloo to doubt herself. The rest, not sure if she's a super genius, but even she couldn't have seen Scoots staying out day AND night working herself ragged to try and learn to fly. Getting Scoots to try flying in place of the scooter? Yeah, that seemed more to what Diamond's aim would likely go. The rest? That was pretty depressing seeing Scoots go that far despite every pony never bringing it to her attention, aside from AB and her chicken remarks, and SB with her dodo insults that Scootaloo didn't know was an insult but could tell it was supposed to be one by the tone SB used. :rainbowlaugh:

But yeah. Last one has more clout than the other two. So we'll touch on that later.

Error #4: Not only did Diamond act like the world's biggest blabber mouth, but she also decides to worm her way into the CMC against their will. I've seen stuck up brats before, but that's just pathetic. One of Diamond's worst performances.

I think you're skipping a scene here. DT was already invited to see Twilight before this 'worming her way in' part. Assuming you're now talking about the whole telling everypony at school bit which is what it sounds like.

Need we forget WHY the CMC first allowed Diamond and Silver to join? They were hoping to see them do stuff and fail so they can be amused. One of them actually had a nice thought, think maybe Scootaloo, about teaching them what it feels like to do something all your own, something Scoots imagines DT doesn't do much of or whoever said that bit.

Upon hanging out with the CMC and seeing them do their Twilight Time stuff, Diamond and Silver take it a step further to make good with the CMC.

How does a bunch of rich fillies make good with ponies they assumed were nothing but trouble making losers? You make them POPULAR enough to hang out with you, of course! :twistnerd:

Also, that was adorable seeing how Scoots actually took time to think that whole proposition out for as long as she did before letting go of any past grudges, that hug scene was too cute for words. DT's command of the school's zombie ponies was pretty impressive. And Silver's management and organizational skills seem pretty legit. All in all, I used to fight with the kids in my neighborhood a lot. Next day we'd be out at the swings or the court.

I can totally buy Scoots just rolling with it and not living in the past. I never did. Much. But then again we kids grew up during the days of no internet and had to go outside everyday or play video games. I was the more going outside Scootaloo type. The world and making friends worked a lot differently in those days.

So, if you had a chance to make more friends and be in with the cool kids, wouldn't you give them a chance? Seeing how the offer was to all three, they really had nothing to lose.

She's just a dork. She never was one for etiquette I imagine as she mostly spent her time alone with books and Spike.

S1 Fluttershy episode with the bird showed us very much how ponies eat. And Pinkie Pie, though the extreme, as well as Rise of the Cuties with DT's party, shows us how even unicorns instinctively eat the earth pony way. Maybe only upper crust ponies eat all fancy like.

Also, Twilight using that burger bun to soak up the ketchup made me feel less silly of one of my eat outs with my friend at BK. Ponies just have big mouths and if Lina Inverse is anything to go by, the more magical you are (as by Lina's explanation) the more you have to eat to keep your energy up!
(and Twilight did basically admit to being starved and people tend to throw etiquette, especially in fast food joints, when they are super hungry!)

I don't know. This critique seems a bit harsh. They are ponies first and only SEEM human to us. Let us not forget that.

I'm sorry. But this was just a bit more than just not being invited anymore. And those looks of pain and the sad whimper of being excluded by ponies you thought you were really making a connection with, ones you even deemed worthy of being allowed beyond the gates and to her very own pool no less, which Scoots and AB were having the time of their lives, you'd get a bit upset if your way of making friends in whatever way you express it, made you feel used when suddenly you get brushed off LAST MINUTE.

DT was shown to have been making a genuine effort to get along with the CMC. She didn't have to let them at their pool party since she and Silver were likely already confident in being able to attend Twilight Times with them. The Pool scene, though a bit silly to say she wants to be popular but lets everypony stay outdoors, really speaks volumes about how she viewed the CMC as potential equals or even friends at that point.

That mewl of having her heart broken by Sweetie Belle is adorable. I'd never take that episode back.

Error #7: And this is the big kick in the balls that ruined the episode once and for all. After Twilight disbands the idea and scatters the other children, the CMC can suddenly to their skills like experts?! Da fuck, Polsky? No-one would learn a talent like that in seconds, after everyone's left, and suddenly do it flawlessly.

That potion making bit was rather bs. Same chemical used to grow that giant apple ends up now growing a small flower? THAT made no sense.

Scoots being calm and relaxed and puts a scooter back together, sure okay, if it was a lego made scooter. lol

The only one that really seems legit is Sweetie Belle since it was a much smaller and tiny flower petal and not something that would strain her mentally I'd imagine. Rest was just part of the usual troupe to which I can't recall the name of, and so Twilight gives them a second chance seeing they showed some small evidence that they really were paying attention.

This episode was horrendous, the chant was grating like nails on a chalkboard, Diamond was horribly out of character (something the series hasn't pulled off yet), the CMC trusted their enemies.

Funny, I consider Flight to the Finish to be the defining moment of DT being out of character. But again, if one wants to rationalize it, maybe Babs was just too good a teacher. It was still over the top hammy acting with the repeated flankflanks bit. That part was grating.

The rest of the episode? Pretty good I guess. Crappy ending though. Never got to see the CMC earn that victory and if DT and SS were more than just talk.

CMC never trusted DT and SS, you must of missed the group huddle they had. And Apple Bloom was as paranoid of being made fun of for the first half. They trusted SWEETIE BELLE to handle things. And got too deep into taking favors and slacking off.

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

The chanting was creepy. Zombie inspired Day of the Dead level stuff. Comedic Effect. Nothing more.

And there are many other reasons why this episode should have been banned by Hasbro. If I didn't know any better I'd say this was made by the crappy team who made Dusk's Dawn.

That should go to Games Ponies Play. That episode was just horrible. The only good thing about it was the one-shot chicken run mare, the one mane gag with Rarity and the squeegee RD.

It was more of a filler episode, as most CMC eps tend to be. I'll always consider it one of the best episodes of S4 along with Filli Vanilli.

This is just a case of different strokes, but for the majority it seems Twilight Time is rather loved by many, even those who don't like the CMC or Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.

2409360 I will concede that Dave has done some good episodes in the past, such as the zany Too Many Pinkie Pies and Keep Calm And Flutter On (the episode that made me a brony). So he's not the worst writer on the show.

That position belongs to Scott Sonneborn. May Somepony To Watch Over Me rot in Tartarus for all eternity!!!

I had forgotten that episode existed. :twilightangry2:

Let us never speak of this again!
