So... Stuff. · 4:36am Aug 23rd, 2014
So, this is as good a time as any to tell you all a little itty bitty something on what I've been up to in regard of the story. Why? Duh, because... er—look, behind you, a three-headed monkey!
Contains spoilers for Ducenti Septuaginta Septem! Duh! If you haven't read that, why are you reading this post? Get off my property!
Now, where was I?
Firstly, I've riddened myself of Applejack's atrocious accent. Or at least toned it down a notch. It was impossible to keep consistent and grammatically a nightmare, so I'm going to stick to contractions and the like. No 'Ah', 'yer', 'yah' and 'ter'. If you want that, just use your Discord-damned imagination. Assuming you do, unlike me, indeed have some.
Second, I have discovered the Wonderful World of Dashes™ – the ones that are horizontal lines, not the supersonic pegasus – and gracefully applied them all over my drivel using only a spoon and half a toothpick. What do you mean with 'that isn't interesting'? What do you mean with 'no one cares'? Dashes are awesome!
Ahem. Whatever. The next chapter was originally supposed to be up sometime during August, but I'm probably not going to make it.
You see, now that Theory is well and alive and Celestia is making deals with the devil faceless abomination from the abyss of unnameable devourers, we have finished our first major line of plot points. I'm currently straightening out the next line, ironing out the kinks, bulldozing the bumps, you get the idea.
So, while I'm busy working on some details using my highest levels of finesse (hitting stuff with a hammer), I can't finish that chapter. It's mostly complete though. I think. Unless I decide it needs a complete revision.
Next point on the checklist I am not using: I am submitting Ducenti Septuaginta Septem to Equestria Daily. (As some of you Starlight Nova suggested. )
Frankly, I've already been playing with that idea for some time, and the basic reasoning behind that decision is that it would essentially create a win-win situation. For me. Not for you.
In the worst case, my story gets 'sent to the sun' without explanation and I know at least that it is (probably somewhat) 'stuhpit'.
Best case, I get a detailed review on what's wrong with my story which then helps me improve it.
Aaand of course there are the mid-ground cases of simple, unhelpful rejection or approval.
(Welp. I'm sure generous with the emoticons/ponymoticons/whatever right now. While I'm at it, have a moustache: )
Lastly, I'd ask for your impressions on the story: Is everything readable/understandable? Are there things I am pompously shoving into your unwitting faces in a displeasing manner? Are some things too obscure (or more obscure than I intended them to be)? Are the hints towards the things I am foreshadowing too blunt and obvious or too unnoticeable? Is the relative frequency of bananas per square second correlant to your gusto? Does Celestia even have a beard? Why am I even asking these three last questions that have next to nothing to do with my piece of fanfiction?
Oh, and before I forget: If you have any questions, you can ask me anything.
I mean it. That's what I'm there for, after all. I think. Maybe.
Bye.
