Discord's FanFic Theater · 8:57pm Aug 15th, 2014
First of all, for those of you who watch me, yes I'm still alive. I recently started a new story. It's an MST style story called Discord's FanFic Theater. However, since it's MST style, and FIMFiction doesn't allow those kind of stories, I'm posting it on Google Docs. You can find the intro here.
Now that I've got that out of the way, the current story I'm riffing is going to be split up into 12 parts, and I'm currently working on part 4. I just need advice. Should I continue the current story all the way to the end before I start the riff on my next story, or should I take a break and work on a different story?

It depends. Is the so long that you think you should take a break from it? Or is it so long that you are just sick of doing it and want to move on to something? God knows I was sick for doing Guardians of Magic in my story after doing 6 chapters of it. Yeah, if you get sick of doing a story, you should move on.
It really depends on you and your writing style. If you feel you need to finish a story before doing another one, go for it. Just do whatever feels comfortable to you.
2396468 I'm not sick of the story yet. But it will be long. I did the math, and it will be 12 parts long, that is unless I choose to make part 10 longer (since I planned the last 3 chapters as riffing the single chapters). Then I could bring it down to 11 parts. Or if I do the last three chapters in a single part, I could narrow it down to 10 parts.
But the fact is that I'm not getting sick of my current story. It's just that it's long and I'm excited to get to other works. I'm just concerned if the readers will get bored.
Also, have you check out my Riff fic?

Yeah, I am reading through it right now. It's a good start. There is just a lot of dead space. I am not saying you need to riff every line, but try to have a constant stream of jokes and riffs. If you can't think of good line or joke, then don't try to force one. It is fine to leave some areas blank.
The worst part of riffing is finding things to say in areas that are boring or trite. You know you can make a good joke here, but you can't think of anything. Drives me crazy every time. I find it helps to skip over those parts and come back to them later. It sucks though when it takes a month(Maybe three) for you to finally think of a joke to put there.
Anyway, keep up the good work. The jokes will come easier with experience. Just keep at it and you will be fine.
2399407 I see your point. But also, if you make jokes too close to each other, the riff can get cluttered. In fact, I've been holding myself back at points so that I don't end up making it too cluttered.
Innterestinnggg....I kinda like it, but the pro riffers (Fallen Prime, twow, and a few others) are a bit better.
However, I will read a little ore of your riffs as you continue to post them. We'll see if you can get better. If you need a bit of help, you can ask me.
One question, are chapters 1 through 5 officially done or are you still working on them?
