And it's actually about 30% finished. Chapter 12 of An Apple Studded Diamond that is. With a word count of about 2100 so far this looks to be a rival to Chapter 6: Beget a Foal, for total word count when finished.
So keep your (whatever you prefer to cross) crossed and I'm gonna keep writing. I've got a couple of stand-alones in the works too, tentatively titled Humble Pie, and Long Walk to the Gallows, both of which take place in my 'Big Tiaraverse' version of Equestria. (Continuity of Mac's Tale, Mac's Tale II: The Blood of Apples, and An Apple Studded Diamond.)
Please also do send some hugs to my friend Elric of Melnipony, who's mother has recently passed from this mortal coil.

Why is it that every time you post an update for this I get feelings that are a combination of excitement and dread.
From "Oh awesome he's finally writing a new chapter.",
to "Oh no what is he going to do to Diamond.",
and finally "Damn it now I'll probably have to have another
long-winded argumentdeep thought out discussion about the plot and characters in a fan-fiction about talking ponies."Anyway I'm looking forward to it.
Blood of apples is still awesome btw now that I reread it after the update.
