    A Question

This blog post has been a long time coming, I think, but it's something I've refused to even consider for... too long, really.

    Oops

Totally minor thing, but I just noticed that I put 2.1 above the first Interlude. The chapters should now be in the correct order. Sorry about that.

    I'm BACK!

I don't know for how long or by what absurd means, but I'm back! I'm going to be working mostly on OLH, though I've got a first draft (to be revised) of the last Letter to the Sun which I'll try to get out sometime after Finals Week ends. Not sure what I'm going to do with Postclassical, but hopefully I'll manage to finish that too.

    Reading Recommendations: Worm

i think I've referred to this story a few times before, and since it's been such a huge influence on me in terms of my writing I thought I'd do a proper recommendation for it.

(Note: This is not fanfiction. This is an original story in an original universe. No ponies involved. Sorry if that's not your thing, but you really should branch out a bit more.)

    Interlude 1: The First Jump

Well, that took an unforgivably long time.

But yes the first Interlude chapter is out, and I can say with as much certainty as I ever have (read: not much) that I'll have the first part of episode 2 out within... let's say the summer. :rainbowlaugh:

Bronycon: Reupdatevengeanced · 4:22am Aug 4th, 2014

So I'm once more in my little room before my pale screen and my far-too-bright desk lamp. Despite some complications, the trip went pretty well all told. I did nearly get everyone lost on the way out of Baltimore (MAPQUEST DIRECTIONS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY WORK IN REVERSE, DAD!) but we eventually cruised back through lovely Pennsylvania (and also through an epic-tier rainstorm that almost drove us off the road). I also have merch, mostly those little Funko figurines that actually look really creepy when partially silhouetted against my monitor. Hence, the desk lamp. As much as I approve of what Lyra and Bon Bon do in the dark, I'd rather what they do in the dark not be stare at me like My Little Chuckies.

Bronycon was a blast. At last year's event I must confess to a certain level of... awkwardness. You know the type. The "I'm new at this and I think I'm really cool shit despite having not done anything" thing. That trip was okay, but this was the first time I've really felt at home with the community as a whole, and not just like some kind of bizarre word-fountain that rests on the edge of this networked cloud, vomiting into the depths towards the cyber-streets below.

I also learned a few things about ficcing. Some of these are going to present themselves fairly subtly. Hopefully, you should only notice that my stories are now ??% more readable. Others are more surface-based. For instance: I'm moving to a monday-afternoon update schedge for Postclassical, and I may end up running Letters though a heavy edit cycle before I finish it off. Not going to promise that last one happens, but there are some pacing concerns I hadn't thought to think about before now, and my perfectionist streak may demand justice.

Speaking of Letters, I have a kind of major announcement. See the following blog which I'm going to post tomorrow if you're interested. I'll give you one word and one word only: Collab.

Are you excited? I'm excited. I've never been so tired that I didn't actually have the energy to finish a joke like this before.

Tagging with Letters, because PC has six favorites and while that's sad I'd like to get this to a good amount of people and have no idea whether blog updates go to followers only or favorites as well, and am too exhausted to look it up.

P.S.: Other learned things include an incredibly simple way to shave around ten thousand words off the new OLH Episode while also making it about 200% less mind-melty. You can thank Applejinx and Wanderer D for that one. Also Film Critic Hulk. And Trey Parker/Matt Stone.

P.P.S.: Benny, if you're reading this, I need you to look over Postclassical Ch3 ASAP. I just said I'd publish it tomorrow, and I also just made some potentially questionable (read: disastrous) edits to the scene where the second dramatic thingy happens. You know the one. With the implications and the creepy and then the shins. I need your cool, collected, and generally sexy commentary. Also I didn't end up doing the "rule of three" thingy because it wrecked the pacing, but I think I worked out the problem a different way anyhow. Let me know if that worked.

P.S.P.S.: It has been long-ass day. I sleep now.
